  • OATS RECIPES--1

    Dear members,
    Many people take and cook the oats with milk or take cooked oats with buttermilk. They find it bland after a few days and stop or continue reluctantly.
    I will try and post some Oats recipes in these columns to make it more palatable and in a variety of ways,so that, you can have it daily in one form or the other.

    OATS RECIPES.

    SALAD/STARTER

    Green gram dhal ( ப.பருப்பு ) oats salad

    Oats- 30g
    G G Dhal 60g
    cucumber 50g
    Tomato 50g
    carrot 50g
    Onion 50g
    Green chillies 1 no
    Lemon juice 2.5 ml
    Salt as reqd
    Garam masala
    powder 2.5g

    METHOD

    Soak green gram dhal in water for half an hour,strain and transfer to a bowl.
    Soakmoats in water,strain n drain out water and add to dhal.
    To this add finely chopped cucumber,tomato,onion,carrot and green chillies.
    Add salt,garam masala and lemon juice.
    Mix well n seerve.

    Coooking time 15 mins
    No.of servings 3

    OATS SPRING ROLLS
    Ingredients

    oats flour 30g
    carrots 10g
    French bens 10g
    capsicum 10g
    cabbage 10g
    Black pepper powder one pinch
    oil as reqd for frying veg.(3ml)
    salt to taste
    soya sauce 1/2 tsp
    Oil for frying

    METHOD

    Knead oats flour into a dough along with salt.Heat oil in a pan,add carrots,French beans,cabbage and saute for a few minutes and then add capsicum,black pepper powder,salt and soya sauce.
    Fry it for sometime till cooked.
    Roll the dough into small circles like chapaathi(thin) and place the fried vegetables in the centre and roll it into spring rolls (into a cylinder) by applying a little water.
    Deep fry and strain and setve hot.

    Cooking time 15 min.
