Please clarify as to when annaprasanam function is to be held according to shastras? Are there any exemptions.? Any difference between male and female child.

Thank you very much for your immediate response. I found in a few websites that Anna Prasanam is to be done on the 6,8 months for male child and 7,9 for female child. is there any condition about this.?

for yajur veda aapasthamba soothram iyers the proceedure is as follows;FOR ANNAPRASNAM; aswathy;rohini;mirugaserusham;punarpoosam.; poosam;uthiram;hastham;chithrai;swathy; anusham; uthraadam; thiruvonam; avittam;sadayam;uthiratadhi; revathy are the . good stars. THITHIS; DWITHIYAI;THRUTHIYAI; PANCHAMI;SAPTHAMI, dasami;thrayodasi;are good; LAGNAMS; rishabam;mithunam;kadagam;kanni;thulaam; dhanus; meenam.THE TENTH RASI from lagnam should be vacant.

7th and 8th month is not good. For male children even no. months and for female children odd no.months are prefered. This must be done on the 6th month. If not possible you can do it even on the 1st year abhtha poorthy day. The child's parent must take bath wear pancha kacham and madisar, and have marks on fore head., do vigneswara pooja; anuggai; prathisara bandham ; then nandhi sraatham. punyahavachanam. sankalpam and graha preethy and then annapraasnam. havis mixed with ghee, honey, curd and it should be given with manthras.

If naamakaranam had not done till this time you can do now. some will do in GURUVAYURAPPAN TEMPLE. some will do in their kula deivam temple.

In the fourth month the child is allowed to see sun and moon. On the 11th day jadha karma and naama karanam , thotil il iduthal are being done. For thotil iduthal 8th rasi from lagna should be empty. For ear boring ceremony 8th rasi from lagnam should be empty. On that day the thithi and star should be the same from morning to night.

In day time two stars and two thithis should not come on that day only. If death theetu is there only after the death theetu is over you can do jathakarma and naamakaranam.. If there is child birth theetu, you can do on the 11th day jadhakarma and naamakaranam.

homam with kadugu and thavudu.should be done. manthrams to give breast milk to the babe. from the right breast. Pancha kavyam should be given to the mother. graha preethy dhaanam. nandhi and punyaha vachanam and naming of the child should be done.

The odd - even month year sayings are lowkika shastram which is to be decided by
family persons.
The minimum 6 month is required to do the Annaprasanam then you can do as you decide.

PREPARATION OF PANCHA KAVYAM; cow's urine 50ml; cow's dung one thumb size; cow's milk 350 ml; cow's curd 150 ml; cow's ghee 50ml; dharbhai water 50ml. collect from the same cow urine,dung, milk, curd and ghee. spread some raw rice in one place and place 6 containers on it. In the centre container which should be in big size pour cow's urine and touch it with dharbhai chanting gayathri manthram.

In the east side container pour cow's dung and touch it by dharbhai chanting gandhatdwaraam duradharshaam nithya pushtan kareeshnnee, eeashwarigum sarvaboothaanaam thawamihopah vayeh sriyam.

In the south side to the centre container pour cow's milk and by touching it with dharbhai chant aapyaaya swashame suthae visvathas soma vrishniyam bhavaa vaajasya sangatheae.

In the west side container pour cow's curd and touch it with same dharbhai by chanting dhathikra vinno akarusham jishnor asvasya vaajinaha; surabhi no muka karath prana aayugum she thaarishath.

In the north side container pour cow's ghee chanting sukramasi jyothirasi theyjosi touch it with dharbhai.

In the north east side container pour dharbhai water chanting devayasthva savithuhu prasave aswino bhahubhyam pooshno hasthaabhyam adhathey and touch it with dharbhai.

Once again by chanting GAYATHRI MANTHRAM touch the centre container with dharbhai. then by chanting gandhat dwaraam pour the cow's dung in the centre container. Then pour milk in the centre container by chanting aapyaaya swasame---. Then pour curd in the centre container chanting dadhikraavinno-----. Then pour ghee in the centre container chanting sukramasi---. Then pour dharbhai water from north east to the centre container chanting devayasthwa----. Then using dhrabhai mix well in the centre container chanting pranavam.

Then go devatha aavaahanam on the pancha kavyam. 16 upachaara pooja . archanai,neivedhyam thaamboolam and plantain fruit. karpooram aarathy. then go sooktham japam. Aagaavo agmannutha badramakranth-------aum shanthi shanthi shanthihi. punar pooja. godevatha yatha sthaana manthram. then drink one spoon of panchakavyam chanting yath thwagasthigatham paapam dehe thistathy maamahe praasnam pancha kavyasya dahathvagnireventhatham.


After delivery 11trh day mother used to take this panchakavyam;;l On the previous day of mother's/father's sratham it must be taken. on the previous day of marriage pancha gavyam should be taken ( groom family and bride family .)

REQUIREMENTS ON THE 11TH DAY AFTER DELIVERY PUNYAHAVACHANAM;

Turmeric powder 50 gram; plqantain fruit 10 nos; betel nut 50 gram; thodutha pushpam 2 metres; kumkumam 10 gram; chandanam 10 gram; betel 50 nos; coconut 6 nos; mango leaf bunch 4 ; brass sombu ( one litre capacity) one no. Thaambaalam 4 nos; aasana palagai or thaduku 4 nos; sugar; 500 gram; kalkandu 200 gram; pancha pathra uthirini one no. bell; deepam; oil;thiri; match box;pen knief; raw rice 1 kilo; plantain leaf 4 nos.

paddy seed dhaanam is important. paddy 1 kilo; Give this as charity to all gents. ladies. children old people all are eligible to get paddy dhaanam. along with paddy add one rupee or 5 rupee coin to each and everybody. this paddy expenses and sastrigal dhakshinai and meals and tiffin expenses must be borne by the child's father expenses.

Child's mothers' father or brother must purchase dhothy. saree.blouse, paruppu thengai; kaaparisi; katti paruppu; sweets, savoury. dress for child. plantain fruits, betel; betel nut, santhanam; manjal;kumkumam; sugar. kalkandu. thodutha pushpam; and with money iven to the son-in-law. Father of this son-in -law will in return do mariathy to the daugther in law's father.

Jatha karma and naamakaranam will be done on the same time. honey, ghee for homam, and curd are required. kadugu and thavidu are required. vrati, visiri. sraithool, camphor. bricks or homa kundam are required.

on the same day evening the child will placed on a thotil. in auspicious time. spread some paddy beneath the thotil and the name of the child will written on the paddy, ladies will sing songs, and for those ladies thaamboolam, chandanam; kumkumam; manjal will be given. The child's athai will purchase kaapu to the child and it will decorate the child.
