    Re: Query on kalai origion

    Sri:
"Chatur varnam mayA shrushtam" - BGita is the origin of caste system.
caste is defined according to the nature of job.
Brahmin is the basic caste whose nature of job is learning veda and helping all other community / caste
about how to lead their life with peace of mind, and accepting their pApam
by way of getting dhAnams from them.
Because they may not have time or other resources to learn and do all the karmas as per veda and shastra.

To eliminate the pApams received from others, brahmins are instructed by shastra to do lot of nithya karma and samskara karmas which we call it as rituals.
There started the differences in brahmins.
Shastram itself given some sub divisions in brahmins but there is no grading but according to the branch of veda they are practicing
    like yajur, sama, rig, atherva.

Shastra given all details about how, when and where to do the karma or ritual but no details were given
about cultural things like dressing, decorating, recipes, inter relationship sharing, respecting etc. like other practical issues.

So, there was a necessity to create a custom to maintain the culture.
Due to lake of easy communications lot of local customs and cultures have been developed but all are based on respecting the basic shastra, for example laws according to constitution.

To keep respect of their own culture and custom people are started naming their own group suitably.

I hope this is enough for understanding the origin of several custom and culture in brahmin community.

Now for your particular question about the Thiruman:
There was a reference which says, the Thiruman should start from origin of the nose.
The difference of opinion is in the origin of the nose only.
I hope that everybody know about the meaning of the word 'Origin'.
