Sir,

I am not sure whether any clarification is available on this thread.

Kindly advice on the restrictions on visits to Temples within one year of death of my mother. Grekhyam was performed on the 13 th day. My father expired much earlier.

Thanks and regards,

Rattan Ramaseshan

Sri:
Search the forum once before asking a question.
This has been discussed in detailed manner very long ago.
Now:
There are lot of confusion in this regard.
Temple Visit is not so important than the Karma as per shastram,
but, when Sapindikaranam is over, there is no logic of maintaining this restriction.

I do not find the thread in which detailed discussion took place long ago. For me, this is a doubt not satisfactorily answered. Kindly let me have more expert opinions

Many of the discussions in Shradhdha Khandam. I would be obliged if English translation is carried in the site in such cases for the benefit of those users who are not tamil literate.

Your mother is in pretha sareeram now and only after one year varushaptheekam she is getting pithru sareeram. only after your mother got pithru sareeram you are entittled to go to temples. now after 13th day grekyam you are permitted to do nithya vidhi sand gayathri japam, brahmayagyam, oupaasanam, ishty, vaiswa devam, nithya pooja ( Panchthna pooja) or vishnu saligrama pooja.

As long as your mother is having pretha sareeram she will feel the heat of fire ,and also your relationship. your mother can only curse now , feeling unhappy about you all will suffer more. I know you dislike your mher's more suffering and will do as sastras statement.

You should not go to temples and also to functions for one year.

Sri:
I strongly object this.
It is very clearly stated in the prayogam itself,
immediately after the completion of Sapindikaranam (merging the pretha pindam with pitru pindam)
which takes place normally on 12th day, the following line will be delivered by the Bruhaspathy:
iha param pretha shabdam nAsti
which means,
No pretha shabdam should be used to denote this Atma hereafter!

To conform the pitru status of the departed only the "Sodakumba Shradham" will be done immediately
after Sapindikaranam, calling the departed as the "Vasu Roopa pitru".

So, I request members,
if you don't know correctly, just frankly accept, I don't know the reason but
all are keeping this tradition, but do not misguide.

You say any reason for not celebrating the functions for one year,
but it is not a valuable reason.

Thanks. My mind has slightly opened up now on the subject. There is a section which believes that no abishekam or archana should be performed by the family members of the deceased up to one year though temple visit as such is not prohibited. Any comments please.

correct. The physical body was burnt into ashes.by fire. now one new body is formed with the help of vasodhakam and thilothakan and pindam. The jjevan along with this body, this body is going to yama lokam along with escorts. it will take one year to reach yamalokam. The escort and the jeevan is stayg as rest in 16 places.

You are doing masikam every month and they are getting food. sodakumbam is food for the escorts.Only after one year varushabdeekam this jeevan enters the pithru lokam and is there as pithru. While travelling the jeevan is only a traveller .

One person has got appointment letter from simpson company chennai ,and this person is travelling to chennai from his native place say trivandrum , he is only a prospective employee of simpson company now , and not an employee of simpson company. One group is saying that he is the employee and other group says prospective employeeof simpson company is travelling, and after he joined there only, he is an employee

In very olden days people must go to other places only by walk. there was no transport facilities on those days. one person from other villages will come and stay in the temple and in this temple this village people will get information about their relatives from this person and also he will carry information from this place.

Each person has got aura , you can see it with the help of kirlion photography. The negativity of theetu person will go by this aura to others and affect them. That is why they should not go to temple or to any function.

Sri:
Dear Gopalan Sir,
What about the priests / Archagas working in Temples?
They have to take rest at home for one year?!
Or
They are exempted?!

The discussion is enlightening. I am disappointed that only Gopalan Sir and NVS Sir have come up so far with some useful insights. More expert opinions on the thread is being eagerly awaited.

This is not a question which every one can answer; only who are knowledgeable on this subject can do it, other wise, answers will be misleading.

i hope you understand this.
