    Dear devotee's

    I still remember sometime back ...I am not sure it was a advice or it was a custom or it is inappropriate to read garuda puranam in an ordinary situation.The garuda puranam should be read in a death person house..this is what I was informed.Not sure but i assume that the feedback was given by a devotee from madhva sampradayaa but this was quite sometime back approximately 10 to 15 years back.So I may also be wrong from where the advice come from...please do apologize..No personal intention to hurt anyone just asking out of curiosity because I have 3 books with me in the Pooja Room.

    There is no such sastram.
    Garuda puranam is one out of 18 puranams, which is always sacred and safe.
    Nothing will happen by reading this puranam in normal days, but people have turned the verse,
    "should read Garuda puranam at least when doing apara karma" as
    "should read Garuda puranam only when doing apara karma".
