1. I don't think that there will be some unexpected reason for not doing Sandhya Vandhanam.
Because, it is said, theetu, asudhdhi or anything can not be a reason for not doing Sandhi.
It is permitted without doing sandhi when he is in coma stage which does not require any pariharam.

2. It is commonly said without considering any reason or condition, a brahmanan is leaving his Brahmanatvam when he is not able to do the sandhiya vandhanam continuously for 7 days.
