Hindu Gods indirectly mentioned in "Thirukkural"

Does Valluvar refer to any particular God by name? Though not by name, he refers to Lord Vishnu in couplet 610 as "one who measured by His feet" (அடி அளந்தான்), an obvious reference to the Hindu myth of Vishnu measuring the Earth, Heaven and Bali's head in three steps (thus being called "Trivikrama")

Vamana Avatar (indirect reference in 610):

    மடியிலா மன்னவன் எய்தும் அடியளந்தான்
    தாஅய தெல்லாம் ஒருங்கு.

    Lord Vishnu (1103):
    தாம்வீழ்வார் மென்றோள் துயிலின் இனிதுகொல்
    தாமரைக் கண்ணான் உலகு.

Is lotus-eyed lord's heaven so sweet As sleep in lover's arms so soft?

    Lakshmi (kural 84, 179):

    அகனமர்ந்து செய்யாள் உறையும் முகனமர்ந்து
    நல்விருந்து ஓம்புவான் இல்.

The goddess of wealth will gladly rest Where smiles welcome the worthy guest.

    Indra (kural 25):

    ஐந்தவித்தான் ஆற்றல் அகல்விசும்பு ளார்கோமான்
    இந்திரனே சாலுங் கரி
Indra himself has cause to say How great the power ascetics' sway

Hindu Gods indirectly mentioned in Thirukkural, the Tamil Veda:–

    1. Trivikrama/Vamana Avatar – Kural Couplet 610
    2. Adi Bhagavan – Kural 1
    3. Amrita -64, 82, 720, 1106
    4. Yama – 269, 326, 765, 1083, 1085
    5. Brahma- 1062
    6. Indra – 25
    7. Krishna/Vishnu -1103 (Lotus Eyed)
    8. Lakshmi (lotus seated)- 179, 519, 617, 920
    9. Alakshmi- 617, 936 (Lakshmi’s sister)
    10. Maya/charmer man- 1258 (may be Krishna of Gopis)

Couplet 377 refers to Brahma, as the man who writes fate on every one’s head. But commentators translate the word as GOD. Since more remarks point towards a person who worships Vishnu and Lakshmi, I conclude that Thiruvalluvar was a Vishnu Bhakta.

( Jains interpret these references as ideology of Jainism )
