திருப்பாவை பாசுரம் 25

ஒருத்தி மகனாய்ப் பிறந்து ஓர் இரவில்
ஒருத்தி மகனாய் ஒளித்து வளர
தரிக்கிலான் ஆகித்தான் தீங்கு நினைத்த
கருத்தைப் பிழைப்பித்துக் கஞ்சன் வயிற்றில்
நெருப்பென்ன நின்ற நெடுமாலே உன்னை
அருத்தித்து வந்தொம் பறை தருதியாகில்
திருத்தக்க செல்வமும் சேவகமும் யாம்பாடி
வருத்தமும் தீர்ந்து மகிழ்ந்து ஏல் ஓர் எம்பாவாய்
ஒருத்தி - ஒரு பெண்ணுக்கு (தேவகி); ஒருத்தி - மற்றொரு பெண்ணுக்கு (யசோதை);
தரிக்கிலான் - பொறுக்க, சகிக்க மாட்டாதவன்; கஞ்சன் - கயவன், கம்சன்;
அருத்தித்து - யாசித்து, உத்தேசித்து பிரார்த்தனை செய்து;
திருத்தக்க - பிராட்டியும் ஆசைப் படத்தக்க, லக்ஷ்மியும் விரும்பும்;
சேவகம் - வீரியம், வீரிய குணம், ஏவியதை செய்வது, குற்றேவல்;


Pasuram 25 - English Translation
Born a son to some woman and the same night
Brought up a son concealed by some other
Thou had foiled the intent of Kanchan,
The intolerant harbouring animosity; and had
Stood upon his stomach a fire, inspir'd terror.
Oh! Hillock Tall, Divinity!
We have come unto Thee beseeching;
To solicit wealth which patroness would covet;
If Thou wouldst grant us the desire
We would sing Thy bravery, ridding grief entire
And be delight'd, listen and consider our damsel.
