    Sri:
Let us see the beautiful face of our India
In the western media, we often see only one type of Indian image. Crowded, dirty and polluted. The pictures would be often taken from random sewage canals and slums. The problem is that those underbellies exist in every part of the world.

This is not to deny that Shanghai and other great world cities have nicer infrastructure than the Indian metropolises. It is just that we are seeing things in binary instead of shades of gray. Indian cities sure have more than their share of dirtiness. Those are the reality and so are the ones below. The problem is that if only one type of pictures are shown it totally distorts the reality. Here is the other side.

    Mumbai skyline:

Bandra-Worli sealink that connects traditional Mumbai city with its suburbs:

The new Mumbai airport & its environs

The serene Sabarmati river running through Ahmedabad

Jaipur: The land of palaces - now getting modern

The heart of Bengaluru: Vidhan Soudha

    Mysore: Bangalore's royal cousin

Heart of New Delhi during the parade

    The sparkling clean Delhi metro

Heart of Chennai in lush greenery

    Chennai's iconic Marina beach

Chennai's southern skyline - not as good as other Indian metropolis but getting better

Kochi's aspirations to enter as a Tier-1 Metropolis

Hyderabad center around the Char Minar

    Rapidly growing skyline of Hyderabad:

Kolkata - the old capital of India

    Kolkata's Vidaysagar Setu

Heart of India's former summer capital - Shimla

Chandigarh: India's among the most planned cities

    Gangtok: The serene northeastern city

    Jodhpur: India's blue city

    Chennai's Anna Memorial

New Delhi's Lotus Temple to rival the Taj

    The Yamuna Expressway to Agra.

    New 8-landed expressways of Hyderabad

    Chennai's Kathipara junction

    India's new highways.

India is moving. Not one or two cities, but the whole nation. By not looking at the pictures above we get the distorted view that India is not progressing. If a media house shows a picture of New York, which of the following would they normally use?

Both of them exist in the same city, but we use only one of those pictures as representative. Same for most cities in the world. However, when it comes to the Indian cities, we take only the negative images as default art to portray and that is a travesty to people who are working to build the country. Let's be fair in representing cities of the world as that impacts investments and poverty alleviation. Romantic skylines for one city and a dirty sewer for the other city is not fair.

We need to be real. But, that doesn't mean dwelling in pessimism.

        Dear Sri.Brahmanyan,
Don't be too hopeful. Modi seems to be no better. All talks and hot air. He has done so far nothing for the middle-classes or the poor, except trying to steal THEIR lands for big corporates. Only Adanis and Ambanis and Tatas are prospering. I am already disillusioned and you will also soon.
Let him first stay in India for long enough to understand the problems of the poor and middle classes. Let him concentrate and see that our trains are clean, without rats eating away our eatables, and chewing our bags. Let him THEN, think of super fast trains. It is wishful thinking with our huge population, unmanned crossings and a biassed minority community. His priorities are to ensure bigger and bigger contracts for corporates.
he will realise soon that one of his biggest mistake is opening out our land every Ram rahim and Robert with visa on arrival.
First of all,can Mr.Modi assure the nation, that, he has an apparatus to track the riff raff and ISIS terrorists who enter India neasily now and then disappear,(knowing fully well of our corrupt customs and police force). Already as per reports quite a few are not traceable. he seems to be aiming at being quoted as the man of the year rather than an Indian Prime Minister who is to solve the problems of the downtrodden.
Next election wwe are SURE TO HAVE A KICHDI GOVT OF COALITION.
We are hearing already that BJP means a bunch of Jokers Party or a Businessman's Jolly Party.
Wake up BJP, correct your course or you are sure to be derailed in the next elections. But by that time India would have been taken over by foreign Corporates. It will be too late.

          காப்பாற்றச் சிலபேர் இருந்துவிட்டால் அந்தக் கள்வனின் வாழ்விலும் நியாம் உண்டு ..."

          நல்லவர் என நம்பிப் பழகிய நண்பர்கள் பலர் துரோகம் செய்ததுண்டு,
          நம்பித் திருமணம் செய்த மனைவிகூட சிலருக்குத் துரோகியாகிவிடுவதுண்டு
          நல்லவர், வல்லவர் என நம்பி பதவியைக் கொடுத்தோம் நன்மையே நடக்கும் என்று நம்புவோம்.

          “தருமத்தின் வாழ்வதனைச் சூது கவ்வும்;
          தருமம் மறுபடி வெல்லும்” எனு மியற்கை
          மருமத்தை நம்மாலே உலகங் கற்கும்
          வழிதேடி விதிஇந்தச் செய்கை செய்தான்.
          கருமத்தை மேன்மேலுங காண்போம்;இன்று
          கட்டுண்டோம்,பொறுத்திருப்போம்; காலம் மாறும்
          தருமத்தை அப்போது வெல்லக் காண்போம்.
          தனுஉண்டு காண்டீவம் அதன் பேர்’என்றான்.

          ஓட்டளித்துக் கட்டுண்டோம் பொறுத்திருப்போம்
          காலம் மாறும் அப்போது தருமமே மறுபடி வெல்லும் எனும்
          இயற்கை மர்மத்தை நம்மாலு உலகறியச் செய்வோம்.
          ஓட்டுதான் நமது காண்டீபம் - அதைச் சரியாகப் பயன்படுத்தத் தயாராவோம்.
          ஆனால் நமக்கோர் நல்ல ரக்ஷகனை அந்த எம்பெருமான்தான் காண்பிக்கவேண்டும்.

Re: Let us see the beautiful face of our India

            Sri:
Dear Friends, see the below letter from Nepal, how medias are creating a bad image about our government?!
Do not come to a conclusion about the Government Activities by just seeing the Indian Medias!!

            Letter To Indian Media

            http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1238314 To Indian media,

I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart for the help your country has provided at this time of crisis in my country, Nepal. All the Nepalese in and outside of the country are thankful to your country.

However, me being a Nepali outside from my motherland, when saw your news and news reports, my heart cried and hurt more than those destruction caused by 7.9 Richter magnitude of earthquake. Like all the medical personnel are taught and trained for potential disasters in future, as a reporter, I hope there is some kind of training on how to report different events. Your media and media personnel are acting like they are shooting some kind of family serials. If your media person can reach to the places where the relief supplies have not reached, at this time of crisis can’t they take a first-aid kit or some food supplies with them as well?

There has been one viral news report going on where a reporter presented how people were fighting for food and one women got injured badly. Thanks to the reporter who had enough time to grab the victim and bring to the camera to show the victim hurt badly on her head. But how surprising, he did not have a minute to grab a piece of cloth to stop bleeding . That reporter did not have a minute to grab the wrist of that person who was beating others with helmet. There was of course a cameraman who does not want to miss a second so that a dramatic news could be presented. I think you are a human before you become a media person. As a responsible person, it was your duty to save someone.

Next, there was this one reporter who had so much time to disturb the rescue workers on asking about technology. If you cannot save one life on that spot, could you please stop bothering others? It looks like , the reporter is new to the world of technology. A show where these technology launching program happens would be better for him to host. Thanks to tons of reporters who came to Nepal from those rescue planes of India, you took a seat where a victim could be transported to hospitals/ health camps. Thanks to you all reporters, you took a seat where a bag of food and supplies could be placed to send to those hardly hit places.

As a human, show your humanity. There are enough programs in this world of television where people can see dramatic shows, family serials, horror shows and nonsense reality shows. You do not have to add more at least in this time of crisis.

MESSAGE TO ALL THE MEDIA PEOPLE WHO ARE ON GROUND NOW IN NEPAL:

Your duty as a reporter is not just to capture the scenario and interview people. If you have access to these critical areas hit hard by earthquake, please take some first-aid kit with you. Take some food supplies, tent and water with you. You don’t have to show how government is not able to send supply there. At least you could reach there, so why can’t you all team up. We Nepali people have already seen and experienced weakness and selfishness of our government all our years. At least this time, everyone show your duty as a human.

MEDIA IS A POWER, IF USED CAREFULLY. OTHERWISE IT COULD ACT LIKE A WEAPON KILLING THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE.

I hope my message will reach out to all the reporters out there.

            Thank you,
            Sunita Shakya
