  • eating right?

Raw food is the best type of food because the nutrition is passed on from the vegetable directly. Cooking destroys nutrition. In fact, we must switch back to raw food to keep healthy

    The correct answer is: False
Raw food can be tough on the digestive system, which is now used instead of cooked food. Moreover, raw food is infamous for generating gas and flatulence. In fact, some vegetables release more nutrients when cooked.Examples are carrots, tomatoes, green beans, pumpkin and broccoli.Cooking softens the protective elements inside the vegetables and thus helps release more of its phyto-nutrients, making absorption easier. If you are dieting or fasting, raw foods can be rather harsh on the stomach and create serious digestive problems, including cramps.Soups and boiled vegetables are safer and more soothing for the system in such cases. Cooked carrot, for instance, is said to release three times as much beta carotene as raw carrots.

Which of the vegetables below will make you hungry very soon because of the way its energy is released in our bodies?

    • Pumpkin
    • Beetroot
    • Sweet corn
    • Broccoli
    • Spinach

    The correct answer is: Pumpkin
Yes, it appears innocent enough, but pumpkin is a high glycemic food. This means it releases energy fast into our blood, causing it to spike, then crash, creating a drop in blood sugar levels. This, in turn, can make us hungry and/or create cravings.Beetroot and sweet corn are in the medium range, while spinach has the lowest glycemic index. Glycemic index is a number associated with a particular type of food that indicates the food's effect on a person's blood glucose (lso called blood sugar) level. The number typically ranges between 50 and 100.Broccoli comes a close second. These foods release energy slowly and are low glycemic foods, which means that you feel full a little longer, and the bodys energy levels remain balanced for longer.

Everybody knows fruits are super foods. If you want to lose weight, which of the following fruits must be avoided because it is high in sugar?

      • Watermelon
      • Peaches
      • Prunes
      • Apples
      • Strawberrie

      The correct answer is: Watermelon
Watermelons have the highest glycemic index in the list. Despite being watery, they are high in fruit sugar which spikes the blood and makes you hungry very fast.Dieters often make the mistake of choosing to eat more watermelon because they think its water content makes it low in calories. If you are choosing fruits to achieve weight loss, choose the acidic ones because they have low glycemic index (slower release of blood sugar and hence keep your energy higher for longer). But choose carefully. Sour fruits like kiwi and orange are still high calorie and may not be appropriate for weight loss or if you have blood sugar issues. In this list, the best are apples. Strawberries and prunes follow closely.
