    Ayodhya Kaanda - Sarga 54
    In this Sarga, Rāma, along with Lakshmaṇa and Seetā reach the Āṡrama of Bharadwāja at Prayāga, the place where river Yamuna joins river Gaṅga . Rāma introduces himself, Lakshmaṇa and Seetā to Bharadwāja. Bharadwāja offers him to stay in his Āṡrama. Rāma excuses himself saying that he is wary of the city and country folk coming there to visit him. Then he requests Bharadwāja to suggest a secluded and suitable place for him to stay. Bharadwāja suggests that he could build an Āṡrama on Citrakūṭa, a beautiful mountain comparable to Gandhamādana. The trio stay at Bharadwāja’s Āṡrama for the night.
    2.54.1 தே து தஸ்மிந்மஹாவ்ருக்ஷே உஷித்வா ரஜநீம் ஸிவாம் ।
    விமலேऽப்யுதிதே ஸூர்யே தஸ்மாத்தேஸாத்ப்ரதஸ்திரே ॥
    tē tu tasminmahāvṛkṣē uṣitvā rajanīṃ ṡivām ।
    vimalē'bhyuditē sūryē tasmāddēṡātpratasthirē ॥
    Having spent a quiet night under that great tree,
    they started from that place
    when the crisp and clear sun arose.
    2.54.2 யத்ர பாகீரதீம் கங்காம் யமுநாபிப்ரவர்ததே ।
    ஜக்முஸ்தம் தேஸமுத்திஸ்ய விகாஹ்ய ஸுமஹத்வநம் ॥
    yatra bhāgīrathīṃ gaṅgāṃ yamunābhipravartatē ।
    jagmustaṃ dēṡamuddiṡya vigāhya sumahadvanam ॥
    Entering the great forest,
    they set out for the place where
    river Yamuna joins Gaṅga, the Bhāgeerathi.
    2.54.3 தே பூமிபாகாந்விவிதாந் தேஸாம்ஸ்சாபி மநோரமாந் ।
    அத்ருஷ்டபூர்வாந் பஸ்யந்தஸ்தத்ர தத்ர யஸஸ்விந: ॥
    tē bhūmibhāgānvividhān dēṡāṃṡcāpi manōramān ।
    adṛṣṭapūrvān paṡyantastatra tatra yaṡaṡvinaḥ ॥
    Those souls of great repute, on their way,
    saw different kinds of landscapes and enchanting regions,
    that they had never seen before.
    2.54.4 யதா க்ஷேமேண கச்சந் ஸ பஸ்யம்ஸ்ச விவிதாந் த்ருமாந் ।
    நிவ்ருத்தமாத்ரே திவஸே ராம: ஸௌமித்ரிமப்ரவீத் ॥
    yathā kṣēmēṇa gacchan sa paṡyaṃṡca vividhān drumān ।
    nivṛttamātrē divasē rāmaḥ saumitrimabravīt ॥
    After treading carefully
    looking at various kinds of trees
    till the day drew to a close,
    Rāma spoke to the son of Sumitrā:
    2.54.5 ப்ரயாகமபித: பஸ்ய ஸௌமித்ரே தூமமுந்நதம் ।
    அக்நேர்பகவத: கேதும் மந்யே ஸந்நிஹிதோ முநி: ॥
    prayāgamabhitaḥ paṡya saumitrē dhūmamunnatam ।
    agnērbhagavataḥ kētuṃ manyē sannihitō muniḥ ॥
    O son of Sumitrā! See the high rising smoke,
    the banner of the revered Agni, all around Prayāga.
    I think that the Muni must be nearby!
    2.54.6 நூநம் ப்ராப்தா: ஸ்ம ஸம்பேதம் கங்காயமுநயோர்வயம் ।
    ததா ஹி ஸ்ரூயதே ஸப்தோ வாரிணோ வாரிகட்டித: ॥
    nūnaṃ prāptāḥ sma sambhēdaṃ gaṅgāyamunayōrvayam ।
    tathā hi ṡrūyatē ṡabdō vāriṇō vārighaṭṭitaḥ ॥
    We have certainly arrived at the
    confluence of the Gaṅga and the Yamuna,
    for it is the sound of clashing waters that we hear.
    2.54.7 தாரூணி பரிபிந்நாநி வநஜைருபஜீவிபி: ।
    பரத்வாஜாஸ்ரமே சைதே த்ருஸ்யந்தே விவிதா த்ருமா: ॥
    dārūṇi paribhinnāni vanajairupajīvibhiḥ ।
    bharadvājāṡramē caitē dṛṡyantē vividhā drumāḥ ॥
    We can see logs of wood cut down by woodmen
    who make a living by sylvan produce,
    and the many different trees of Bharadwāja’s Āṡrama.
    2.54.8 தந்விநௌ தௌ ஸுகம் கத்வா லம்பமாநே திவாகரே ।
    கங்காயமுநயோஸ்ஸந்தௌ ப்ராபதுர்நிலயம் முநே: ॥
    dhanvinau tau sukhaṃ gatvā lambamānē divākarē ।
    gaṅgāyamunayōssandhau prāpaturnilayaṃ munēḥ ॥
    The two bowmen, happily charging forward
    till the sun was poised for setting,
    reached the residence of the Muni
    at the confluence of the Gaṅga and the Yamuna.
    2.54.9 ராமஸ்த்வாஸ்ரமமாஸாத்ய த்ராஸயந்ம்ருகபக்ஷிண: ।
    கத்வா முஹூர்தமத்வாநம் பரத்வாஜமுபாகமத் ॥
    rāmastvāṡramamāsādya trāsayanmṛgapakṣiṇaḥ ।
    gatvā muhūrtamadhvānaṃ bharadvājamupāgamat ॥
    Reaching the precincts of the Āṡrama ,
    Rāma, whose appearance frightened the deer and birds,
    approached Bharadwāja.
    2.54.10 ததஸ்த்வாஸ்ரமாஸாத்ய முநேர்தர்ஸநகாங்க்ஷிணௌ ।
    ஸீதயாநுகதௌ வீரௌ தூராதேவாவதஸ்தது: ॥
    tatastvāṡramāsādya munērdarṡanakāṅkṣiṇau ।
    sītayānugatau vīrau dūrādēvāvatasthatuḥ ॥
    Upon reaching the Āṡrama ,
    those two Veeras, along with Seetā,
    waited at a distance to see the Muni.
    2.54.12 ஸ ப்ரவிஸ்ய மஹாத்மாநம்ருஷிம் ஸிஷ்யகணைர்வ்ருதம் ।
    ஸம்ஸிதவ்ரதமேகாக்ரம் தபஸா லப்தசக்ஷுஷம் ॥
    ஹுதாக்நிஹோத்ரம் த்ருஷ்ட்வைவ மஹாபாகம் க்ருதாஞ்ஜலி: ।
    ராம: ஸௌமித்ரிணா ஸார்தம் ஸீதயா சாப்யவாதயத் ॥
    sa praviṡya mahātmānamṛṣiṃ ṡiṣyagaṇairvṛtam ।
    saṃṡitavratamēkāgraṃ tapasā labdhacakṣuṣam ॥
    hutāgnihōtraṃ dṛṣṭvaiva mahābhāgaṃ kṛtāńjaliḥ ।
    rāmaḥ saumitriṇā sārdhaṃ sītayā cābhyavādayat ॥
    As soon as they saw the blessed Mahātma Ṛshi,
    who was given to rigorous discipline with great focus,
    who had performed many fire rituals
    and attained an inner vision by doing Tapa,
    and surrounded by many of his Ṡishyas,
    Rāma with joined palms paid obeisance to him
    along with the son of Sumitrā and Seetā.
    2.54.13 ந்யவேதயத சாத்மாநம் தஸ்மை லக்ஷ்மணபூர்வஜ: ।
    புத்ரௌ தஸரதஸ்யாவாம் பகவந் ராமலக்ஷ்மணௌ ॥
    nyavēdayata cātmānaṃ tasmai lakṣmaṇapūrvajaḥ ।
    putrau daṡarathasyāvāṃ bhagavan rāmalakṣmaṇau ॥
    And the elder brother of Lakshmaṇa
    introduced himself to him:
    “O Bhagawan! We are Rāma and Lakshmaṇa,
    the sons of Daṡaratha!”
    2.54.14 பார்யா மமேயம் வைதேஹீ கல்யாணீ ஜநகாத்மஜா ।
    மாம் சாநுயாதா விஜநம் தபோவநமநிந்திதா ॥
    bhāryā mamēyaṃ vaidēhī kalyāṇī janakātmajā ।
    māṃ cānuyātā vijanaṃ tapōvanamaninditā ॥
    This blessed and beautiful princess of Vidēha,
    the daughter of Janaka, is my wife.
    She, the irreproachable one,
    has followed me to the secluded Tapōvana.
    2.54.15 பித்ரா ப்ரவ்ராஜ்யமாநம் மாம் ஸௌமித்ரிரநுஜ ப்ரிய: ।
    அயமந்வகமத்ப்ராதா வநமேவ த்ருடவ்ரத: ॥
    pitrā pravrājyamānaṃ māṃ saumitriranuja priyaḥ ।
    ayamanvagamadbhrātā vanamēva dṛḍhavrataḥ ॥
    When my father exiled me,
    my loving younger brother, son of Sumitrā,
    who is quite resolved, followed me to the Vana.
    2.54.16 பித்ரா நியுக்தா பகவந் ப்ரவேக்ஷ்யாமஸ்தபோவநம் ।
    தர்மமேவ சரிஷ்யாம ஸ்தத்ர மூலபலாஸநா: ॥
    pitrā niyuktā bhagavan pravēkṣyāmastapōvanam ।
    dharmamēva cariṣyāma statra mūlaphalāṡanāḥ ॥
    As ordered by my father, we shall enter the Tapōvana
    and live in accordance with Dharma,
    subsisting on roots and fruits.
    2.54.17 தஸ்ய தத்வசநம் ஸ்ருத்வா ராஜபுத்ரஸ்ய தீமத: ।
    உபாநயத தர்மாத்மா காமர்க்யமுதகம் தத: ॥
    tasya tadvacanaṃ ṡrutvā rājaputrasya dhīmataḥ ।
    upānayata dharmātmā gāmarghyamudakaṃ tataḥ ॥
    Hearing those words of the perspicacious prince,
    that Dharmātma made him the ceremonial offering
    of a cow and of water as a token of hospitality.
    2.54.18 நாநாவிதாநந்நரஸாந் வந்யமூலபலாஸ்ரயாந் ।
    தேப்யோ ததௌ தப்ததபா வாஸம் சைவாப்யகல்பயத் ॥
    nānāvidhānannarasān vanyamūlaphalāṡrayān ।
    tēbhyō dadau taptatapā vāsaṃ caivābhyakalpayat ॥
    He, who had performed Tapa,
    served them with a variety of delicious foods
    made of fruits and roots grown in the forest
    and also arranged for their stay.
    2.54.19 ம்ருகபக்ஷிபிராஸீநோ முநிபிஸ்ச ஸமந்தத: ।
    ராமமாகதமப்யர்ச்ய ஸ்வாகதேநாஹதம் முநி: ॥
    mṛgapakṣibhirāsīnō munibhiṡca samantataḥ ।
    rāmamāgatamabhyarcya svāgatēnāhataṃ muniḥ ॥
    The Ṛshi, seated the deer and birds,
    as well as many Munis about him,
    welcomed Rāma who had thus arrived, with all honor. What a beautiful sight - a Muni surrounded by deer and birds!
    2.54.20 ப்ரதிக்ருஹ்ய ச தாமர்சாமுபவிஷ்டம் ஸ ராகவம் ।
    பரத்வாஜோऽப்ரவீத்வாக்யம் தர்மயுக்தமிதம் ததா ॥
    pratigṛhya ca tāmarcāmupaviṣṭaṃ sa rāghavam ।
    bharadvājō'bravīdvākyaṃ dharmayuktamidaṃ tadā ॥
    And when Rāghava sat down accepting the hospitality,
    Bharadwāja said these words that were
    in conformance with Dharma:
    2.54.21 சிரஸ்ய கலு காகுத்ஸ்த! பஸ்யாமி த்வாமிஹாகதம் ।
    ஸ்ருதம் தவ மயா சேதம் விவாஸநமகாரணம் ॥
    cirasya khalu kākutstha! paṡyāmi tvāmihāgatam ।
    ṡrutaṃ tava mayā cēdaṃ vivāsanamakāraṇam ॥
    It is a long time indeed since I saw you here last,
    O prince of Kākutstha lineage!
    I have heard of your being exiled without just cause. In these crisp words of Bharadwāja, Vālmeeki summarizes the whole episode of Rāma’s exile from a neutral and unemotional perspective of an outsider:


    “Rāma was exiled without a just cause. Period.”
    2.54.22 அவகாஸோ விவிக்தோऽயம் மஹாநத்யோஸ்ஸமாகமே ।
    புண்யஸ்ச ரமணீயஸ்ச வஸத்விஹ பவாந் ஸுகம் ॥
    avakāṡō viviktō'yaṃ mahānadyōssamāgamē ।
    puṇyaṡca ramaṇīyaṡca vasatviha bhavān sukham ॥
    This place, at the confluence of two great rivers,
    is sacred, beautiful and free of human habitation.
    You can stay here happily.
    2.54.23 ஏவமுக்தஸ்து வசநம் பரத்வாஜேந ராகவ: ।
    ப்ரத்யுவாச ஸுபம் வாக்யம் ராம: ஸர்வஹிதே ரத: ॥
    ēvamuktastu vacanaṃ bharadvājēna rāghavaḥ ।
    pratyuvāca ṡubhaṃ vākyaṃ rāmaḥ sarvahitē rataḥ ॥
    Hearing those words of Bharadwāja,
    Rāghava, who bore everyone’s welfare in mind,
    replied suitably, saying these well-meaning words:
    2.54.25 பகவந்நித ஆஸந்ந: பௌரஜாநபதோ ஜந: ।
    ஸுதர்ஸமிஹ மாம் ப்ரேக்ஷ்ய மந்யேऽஹமிமமாஸ்ரமம் ॥
    ஆகமிஷ்யதி வைதேஹீம் மாம் சாபி ப்ரேக்ஷகோ ஜந: ।
    அநேந காரணேநாஹமிஹ வாஸம் ந ரோசயே ॥
    bhagavannita āsannaḥ paurajānapadō janaḥ ।
    sudarṡamiha māṃ prēkṣya manyē'hamimamāṡramam ॥
    āgamiṣyati vaidēhīṃ māṃ cāpi prēkṣakō janaḥ ।
    anēna kāraṇēnāhamiha vāsaṃ na rōcayē ॥
    O Bhagawan! I am afraid that
    the citizens and country-folk who live nearby,
    knowing that they could easily find me here,
    might constantly come to this Āṡrama
    to see me and the princess of Vidēha.
    Hence, I would not quite like to live here.
    2.54.26 ஏகாந்தே பஸ்யபகவந்நாஸ்ரமஸ்தாநமுத்தமம் ।
    ரமேத யத்ர வைதேஹீ ஸுகார்ஹா ஜநகாத்மஜா ॥
    ēkāntē paṡyabhagavannāṡramasthānamuttamam ।
    ramēta yatra vaidēhī sukhārhā janakātmajā ॥
    Think of some secluded place, O Bhagawan,
    which would be an excellent site for
    an Āṡrama and in which the princess of Vidēha,
    who is used to comfort, will be happy.
    2.54.27 ஏதச்ருத்வா ஸுபம் வாக்யம் பரத்வாஜோ மஹாமுநி: ।
    ராகவஸ்ய ததோ வாக்யமர்தக்ராஹகமப்ரவீத் ॥
    ētachrutvā ṡubhaṃ vākyaṃ bharadvājō mahāmuniḥ ।
    rāghavasya tatō vākyamarthagrāhakamabravīt ॥
    Hearing those well spoken words,
    Bharadwāja, the eminent Muni, told Rāghava
    these words that would meet his needs:
    One Krōṡa equals two miles.
    2.54.28-29 தஸக்ரோஸ இதஸ்தாத கிரிர்யத்ரநிவத்ஸ்யஸி ।
    மஹர்ஷிஸேவித: புண்ய: ஸர்வத: ஸுகதர்ஸந: ॥
    கோலாங்கூலாநுசரிதோ வாநரர்க்ஷநிஷேவித: ।
    சித்ரகூட இதி க்யாதோ கந்தமாதநஸந்நிப: ॥
    daṡakrōṡa itastāta giriryatranivatsyasi ।
    maharṣisēvitaḥ puṇyaḥ sarvataḥ sukhadarṡanaḥ ॥
    gōlāṅgūlānucaritō vānararkṣaniṣēvitaḥ ।
    citrakūṭa iti khyātō gandhamādanasannibhaḥ ॥
    There is a mountain by name Citrakūṭa
    that is comparable to Gandhamādana
    at a distance of ten Krōṡas from here,
    which would be good for you to live in.
    It is an auspicious place frequented by Maharshis,
    offering a pleasant view in every direction.
    It is inhabited by Gōlāṅgūlas, Vānaras and bears. Gōlāṅgūlas and Vānaras were first mentioned in Bāla Kāṇḍa, Sarga 17.


    They were created by Dēvas upon the injunction of Brahma, to aid Vishnu, who would appear in the form of Rāma.








    2.54.30 யாவதா சித்ரகூடஸ்ய நரஸ்ருங்காந்யவேக்ஷதே ।
    கல்யாணாநி ஸமாதத்தே ந பாபே குருதே மந: ॥
    yāvatā citrakūṭasya naraṡṛṅgānyavēkṣatē ।
    kalyāṇāni samādhattē na pāpē kurutē manaḥ ॥
    The sight of the peaks of Citrakūṭa,
    will evoke only positive thoughts in one’s mind,
    and never an evil one.
    2.54.31 ருஷயஸ்தத்ர பஹவோ விஹ்ருத்ய ஸரதாம் ஸதம் ।
    தபஸா திவமாரூடா: கபாலஸிரஸா ஸஹ ॥
    ṛṣayastatra bahavō vihṛtya ṡaradāṃ ṡatam ।
    tapasā divamārūḍhāḥ kapālaṡirasā saha ॥
    Many Ṛshis lived there for hundreds of years,
    did Tapa till their heads wilted into mere skulls
    and then ascended to heaven.
    2.54.32 ப்ரவிவிக்தமஹம் மந்யே தம் வாஸம் பவதஸ்ஸுகம் ।
    இஹ வா வநவாஸாய வஸ ராம மயா ஸஹ ॥
    praviviktamahaṃ manyē taṃ vāsaṃ bhavatassukham ।
    iha vā vanavāsāya vasa rāma mayā saha ॥
    I think you will be happy living there,
    a place free of human habitation.
    But you are also welcome to live with me here.
    2.54.33 ஸ ராமம் ஸர்வகாமைஸ்தம் பரத்வாஜ: ப்ரியாதிதிம் ।
    ஸபார்யம் ஸஹ ச ப்ராத்ரா ப்ரதிஜக்ராஹ தர்மவித் ॥
    sa rāmaṃ sarvakāmaistaṃ bharadvājaḥ priyātithim ।
    sabhāryaṃ saha ca bhrātrā pratijagrāha dharmavit ॥
    Bharadwāja, well versed in Dharma,
    entertained Rāma, the welcome guest,
    and his wife and brother
    with all that they could wish for.
    2.54.34 தஸ்ய ப்ரயாகே ராமஸ்ய தம் மஹர்ஷிமுபேயுஷ: ।
    ப்ரபந்நா ரஜநீ புண்யா: சித்ரா: கதயத: கதா: ॥
    tasya prayāgē rāmasya taṃ maharṣimupēyuṣaḥ ।
    prapannā rajanī puṇyāḥ citrāḥ kathayataḥ kathāḥ ॥
    The night descended as Rāma and the Maharshi went on
    conversing on various topics at that Prayāga.
    2.54.35 ஸீதா த்ருதீய: காகுத்ஸ்த: பரிஸ்ராந்த: ஸுகோசித: ।
    பரத்வாஜாஸ்ரமே ரம்யே தாம் ராத்ரிமவஸத்ஸுகம் ॥
    sītā tṛtīyaḥ kākutsthaḥ pariṡrāntaḥ sukhōcitaḥ ।
    bharadvājāṡramē ramyē tāṃ rātrimavasatsukham ॥
    The prince of Kākutstha lineage,
    who was used to comfort, was very tired.
    He, along with Lakshmaṇa and Seetā
    spent the night comfortably in Bharadwāja’s pleasant Āṡrama.
    2.54.36 ப்ரபாதாயாம் ரஜந்யாம் து பரத்வாஜமுபாகமத் ।
    உவாச நரஸார்தூலோ தே முநிம் ஜ்வலிததேஜஸம் ॥
    prabhātāyāṃ rajanyāṃ tu bharadvājamupāgamat ।
    uvāca naraṡārdūlō tē muniṃ jvalitatējasam ॥
    After the night gave way to dawn,
    that tiger among men went to
    Bharadwāja of fiery radiance, and said:
    2.54.37 ஸர்வரீம் பகவந்நத்ய ஸத்யஸீல தவாஸ்ரமே ।
    உஷிதா: ஸ்மேஹ வஸதிமநுஜாநாது நோ பவாந் ॥
    ṡarvarīṃ bhagavannadya satyaṡīla tavāṡramē ।
    uṣitāḥ smēha vasatimanujānātu nō bhavān ॥
    O Bhagawan, devotee to truth!
    We have spent the night comfortably in your Āṡrama.
    Please permit us to depart
    to the place where we shall live.
    2.54.38 ராத்ர்யாம் து தஸ்யாம் வ்யுஷ்டாயாம் பரத்வாஜோऽப்ரவீதிதம் ।
    மதுமூலபலோபேதம் சித்ரகூடம் வ்ரஜேதி ஹ ॥
    rātryāṃ tu tasyāṃ vyuṣṭāyāṃ bharadvājō'bravīdidam ।
    madhumūlaphalōpētaṃ citrakūṭaṃ vrajēti ha ॥
    After the night thus passed,
    Bharadwāja told him, "You may proceed to
    Citrakūṭa which abounds in roots, fruits and honey”.
    2.54.39-40 வாஸமௌபயிகம் மந்யே தவ ராம மஹாபல!
    நாநாநககணோபேத: கிந்நரோரகஸேவித: ।
    மயூரநாதாபிருதோ கஜராஜநிஷேவித: ॥
    கம்யதாம் பவதா ஸைல ஸ்சித்ரகூட: ஸ விஸ்ருத: ।
    புண்யஸ்ச ரமணீயஸ்ச பஹுமூலபலாயுத: ॥
    vāsamaupayikaṃ manyē tava rāma mahābala!
    nānānagagaṇōpētaḥ kinnarōragasēvitaḥ ।
    mayūranādābhirutō gajarājaniṣēvitaḥ ॥
    gamyatāṃ bhavatā ṡaila ṡcitrakūṭaḥ sa viṡrutaḥ ।
    puṇyaṡca ramaṇīyaṡca bahumūlaphalāyutaḥ ॥
    Surrounded by many foothills,
    frequented by Kinnaras and Uragas,
    resounding on all sides with the cawing of peacocks,
    and abounding in royal tuskers,
    it is a place that will, I think,
    suit a man of great strength like you.
    Go to the famed mountain Citrakūṭa,
    which is holy, pleasant and has plenty of roots and fruits.
    2.54.41 தத்ர குஞ்ஜரயூதாநி ம்ருகயூதாநி சாபித: ।
    விசரந்தி வநாந்தேஸ்மிந் தாநி த்ரக்ஷ்யஸி ராகவ ॥
    tatra kuńjarayūthāni mṛgayūthāni cābhitaḥ ।
    vicaranti vanāntēsmin tāni drakṣyasi rāghava ॥
    There, deep in the Vana, O Rāghava, you will see
    herds of elephants and deer moving about!
    2.54.42 ஸரித்ப்ரஸ்ரவணப்ரஸ்தாந் தரீகந்தரநிர்ஜராந் ।
    சரத: ஸீதயா ஸார்தம் நந்திஷ்யதி மநஸ்தவ ॥
    saritprasravaṇaprasthān darīkandharanirjharān ।
    carataḥ sītayā sārdhaṃ nandiṣyati manastava ॥
    And as you, along with Seetā,
    go about looking at the mountainsides
    with their rivers and rivulets,
    the hollows among the rocks,
    the caves and the waterfalls,
    your heart will be filled with joy!
    2.54.43 ப்ரஹ்ருஷ்டகோ யஷ்டிககோகிலஸ்வநை
    ர்விநாதிதம் தம் வஸுதாதரம் ஸிவம் ।
    ம்ருகைஸ்ச மத்தைர்பஹுபிஸ்ச குஞ்ஜரை:
    ஸுரம்யமாஸாத்ய ஸமாவஸாஸ்ரமம் ॥
    prahṛṣṭakō yaṣṭikakōkilasvanai
    rvināditaṃ taṃ vasudhādharaṃ ṡivam ।
    mṛgaiṡca mattairbahubhiṡca kuńjaraiḥ
    suramyamāsādya samāvasāṡramam ॥
    That blessed mountain echoes with the
    melodious notes of delighted lapwings and cuckoos,
    and is beautiful with amorous deer and many tuskers.
    May you reach there and live in your own Āṡrama.
    இத்யார்ஷே ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே வால்மீகீயே ஆதிகாவ்யே
    அயோத்யாகாண்டே சது:பஞ்சாஸ ஸ்ஸர்க: ॥
    ityārṣē ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīyē ādikāvyē
    ayōdhyākāṇḍē catuḥpańcāṡa ssargaḥ ॥
    Thus concludes the fifty fourth Sarga
    in Ayōdhyā Kāṇḍa of the glorious Rāmāyaṇa,
    the first ever poem of humankind,
    composed by Vālmeeki.
