    Ayodhya Kaanda - Sarga 94
In this Sarga, Rāma describes the captivating beauty of Citrakūṭa to Seetā. He hopes that she too is enjoying the beauty of the Vana, living along with him.

He feels happy that he is making the word given by his father come true and also making Bharata happy. He declares that, living in that beautiful Vana along with her and Lakshmaṇa, he sees no reason for him to feel sad in spite of losing the kingdom and being away from his friends.

    atha dāṡarathiṡcitraṃ citrakūṭamadarṡayat ।
    bhāryāmamarasaṅkāṡaṡṡacīmiva purandaraḥ ॥
Having lived there on the mountain long enough,
and having a natural fascination for mountains and Vanas,
the son of Daṡaratha, who was like a Dēva,
showed to Seetā, the princess of Vidēha, like Indra to Ṡachi,
    the bewitching beauty of Citrakūṭa,
to please her as well as to regale his own heart.

Neither the loss of the kingdom nor
deprivation of the company of friends
bothers my mind, O auspicious one,
seeing this beautiful and enchanting mountain.

    virājantē'calēndrasya dēṡā dhātuvibhūṣitāḥ ॥
Some of the peaks of this mountain
shine like silver, some red like blood,
    some yellow and madder-colored,
some with the brilliance of emerald,
some with the tints of topaz,
crystal and the flower of the Kētaka,
some with the luster of stars and

The mountain is rich with enchanting
    flowering, fruit-bearing and shady trees
    like mango, rose-apple, Asana, Lōdhra,
    Priyāla, jack fruit, Dhava, Aṅkōla,
    lovely Tiniṡa, Bilva, Tiṇḍuka, bamboo,
    Kāṡmari, neem, Varuṇa, Madhūka, Tilaka,

With water gushing from its waterfalls,
and from its springs that seem to tear it apart,
the mountain looks like an elephant exuding ichor.

by the breeze from the caverns
that carries the perfume of a multitude of flowers,
    tickling their sense of smell?

With this stay in the Vana, I have achieved two objectives:
of not making my father’s adherence to Dharma untrue,
and that of making Bharata happy.

vaidēhi ramasē kacciccitrakūṭē mayā saha ।
    paṡyantī vividhānbhāvānmanōvākkāyasammatān ॥
O princess of Vidēha! Are you enjoying
yourself with me here in this Citrakūṭa,
looking at these many sights that
please the mind, speech and body! This is the toughest question a husband whose fortunes are on the decline and whose good times are behind him, could ask his wife! All the guilt of having to bring the princess of Vidēha must be bearing down on him. Does not it wrench the heart of everyone even to witness this situation, let alone experience it?

My great grandfathers and ancient Rājarshis
said that forest life like this
should be thought of as no less than Amrita,
for a king who wants a great afterlife!

    bahulā bahulairvarṇairnīlapītasitāruṇaiḥ ॥
    Hundreds of expansive rock-faces
of the mountain sparkle all around,
with a multitude of brilliant tints,
    blue, yellow, white and red.

    ōṣadhyaḥ svaprabhālakṣmyā bhrājamānāssahasraṡaḥ ॥
Herbs in thousands, on this lord of mountains,
shine with the splendor of their own luster,
like tongues of fire at the night.

    kēcidēkaṡilā bhānti parvatasyāsya bhāmini ॥
O lovely one! Some parts of the mountain look like houses,
some like gardens and some seem like
they are made of a single rock.

citrakūṭasya kūṭō'sau dṛṡyatē sarvata ṡṡubhaḥ ॥
Citrakūṭa looks as if it had risen rending the earth,
and this peak of the Citrakūṭa looks
    equally beautiful from every direction.

Look at these great beds of lovers that are covered with
Kuṣṭha, Sthagara, Punnāga and Bhūrja leaves
and spread over by lotus petals.

Look at the lotus wreaths, my lady,
    crushed and cast aside by lovers;
and look at these different fruits.

    vasvaukasārāṃ nalinīmatyētīvōttarānkurūn ।
    parvataṡcitrakūṭō'sau bahumūlaphalōdakaḥ ॥
This Citrakūṭa mountain with its abundance of
roots, fruits and water, seems to excel
the city of Vasvoukasāra, the lake of Nalini,
    and the country of Uttara-Kuru.

I will be very happy, O Seetā, my lady,
spending time here along with you and Lakshmaṇa,
    observing the highest discipline,
following the example of great people,
and enhancing the Dharma adhered to by the family.

in Ayōdhyā Kāṇḍa of the glorious Rāmāyaṇa,
the first ever poem of humankind,
    composed by Vālmeeki.
