2.102.29 ஐங்குதம் பதரீமிஸ்ரம்
பிண்யாகம் தர்பஸம்ஸ்தரே ।
ந்யஸ்ய ராமஸ்ஸது:கார்தோ
ருதந்வசநமப்ரவீத் ॥
aiṅgudaṃ badarīmiṡraṃ
piṇyākaṃ darbhasaṃstarē ।
nyasya rāmassaduḥkhārtō
rudanvacanamabravīt ॥
Placing the ball of crushed Iṅgudi seed
mixed with Badari fruits on Darbha grass,
Rāma said, as he wept in deep distress:
2.102.30 இதம் புங்க்ஷ்வமஹாராஜ
ப்ரீதோ யதஸநா வயம் ।
யதந்ந: புருஷோ பவதி
ததந்நாஸ்தஸ்ய தேவதா: ॥
idaṃ bhuṅkṣvamahārāja
prītō yadaṡanā vayam ।
yadannaḥ puruṣō bhavati
tadannāstasya dēvatāḥ ॥
Eat with pleasure, O great King,
this, which is what we eat.
For, that which is food for a man
is food for the Dēvas!
2.102.31 ததஸ்தேநைவ மார்கேண
ப்ரத்யுத்தீர்ய நதீதடாத் ।
ஆருரோஹ நரவ்யாக்ரோ
ரம்யஸாநும் மஹீதரம் ॥
tatastēnaiva mārgēṇa
pratyuttīrya nadītaṭāt ।
ārurōha naravyāghrō
ramyasānuṃ mahīdharam ॥
Then that tiger among men tracked back his path from the river
climbing up the mountain along the enchanting cliffs.
2.102.32 தத: பர்ணகுடீத்வாரம்
ஆஸாத்ய ஜகதீபதி: ।
பரிஜக்ராஹ பாஹுப்யாம்
உபௌ பரதலக்ஷ்மணௌ ॥
tataḥ parṇakuṭīdvāram
āsādya jagatīpatiḥ ।
parijagrāha bāhubhyām
ubhau bharatalakṣmaṇau ॥
Then that lord of the world,
reaching the entrance of the thatched cottage,
took Bharata and Lakshmaṇa into his embrace.
2.102.33 தேஷாம் து ருததாம் ஸப்தாத்
ப்ரதிஸ்ருத்கோऽபவத்கிரௌ ।
ப்ராதணாம் ஸஹ வைதேஹ்யா
ஸிம்ஹாநாமிவ நர்ததாம் ॥
tēṣāṃ tu rudatāṃ ṡabdāt
pratiṡrutkō'bhavadgirau ।
bhrāt ṇāṃ saha vaidēhyā
siṃhānāmiva nardatām ॥
The wailing of the brothers and the princess of Vidēha
echoed from the mountain like the roaring of lions.
2.102.34 மஹாபலாநாம் ருததாம்
குர்வதாமுதகம் பிது: ।
விஜ்ஞாய துமுலம் ஸப்தம்
த்ரஸ்தா பரத ஸைநிகா: ॥
mahābalānāṃ rudatāṃ
kurvatāmudakaṃ pituḥ ।
vijñāya tumulaṃ ṡabdaṃ
trastā bharata sainikāḥ ॥
The army of Bharata got scared,
hearing those reverberating sounds of the
cries of those mighty strong,
who had completed the water libations to their father.
2.102.35 அப்ருவம்ஸ்சாபி ராமேண
பரத ஸ்ஸம்ங்கதோ த்ருவம் ।
தேஷாமேவ மஹாஞ்சப்த:
ஸோசதாம் பிதரம் ம்ருதம் ॥
abruvaṃṡcāpi rāmēṇa
bharata ssaṃṅgatō dhruvam ।
tēṣāmēva mahāñchabdaḥ
ṡōcatāṃ pitaraṃ mṛtam ॥
Then they said (to each other):
‘Bharata must have met with Rāma!
That loud sound must be from them
crying over the deceased father!’
2.102.36 அத வாஸாந்பரித்யஜ்ய
தம் ஸர்வேऽபிமுகாஸ்ஸ்வநம் ।
அப்யேகமநஸோ ஜக்மு:
யதாஸ்தாநம் ப்ரதாவிதா: ॥
atha vāsānparityajya
taṃ sarvē'bhimukhāssvanam ।
apyēkamanasō jagmuḥ
yathāsthānaṃ pradhāvitāḥ ॥
Then, in one accord, leaving their camps,
all of them dashed, albeit in an orderly manner,
towards the place where the noise came from.
2.102.37 ஹயைரந்யே கஜைரந்யே
ரதைரந்யே ஸ்வலங்க்ருதை: ।
ஸுகுமாரா ஸ்ததைவாந்யே
பத்பிரேவ நரா யயு: ॥
hayairanyē gajairanyē
rathairanyē svalaṅkṛtaiḥ ।
sukumārā stathaivānyē
padbhirēva narā yayuḥ ॥
Then they went; some on horses,
some on elephants, and some men on foot and
the delicate ones (women) on well decorated chariots.
2.102.38 அசிரப்ரோஷிதம் ராமம்
சிரவிப்ரோஷிதம் யதா ।
த்ரஷ்டுகாமோ ஜநஸ்ஸர்வோ
ஜகாம ஸஹஸாऽऽஸ்ரமம்॥
aciraprōṣitaṃ rāmaṃ
ciraviprōṣitaṃ yathā ।
draṣṭukāmō janassarvō
jagāma sahasā''ṡramam॥
All of them made all haste for the Āṡrama,
eager to see Rama, as if he had been long away,
though he had left them only a short while before.
2.102.39 ப்ராதऽணாம் த்வரிதா ஸ்தத்ர
த்ரஷ்டுகாமாஸ்ஸமாகமம் ।
யயுர்பஹுவிதைர்யாநை:
குரநேமிஸ்வநாகுலை: ॥
bhrāta'ṇāṃ tvaritā statra
draṣṭukāmāssamāgamam ।
yayurbahuvidhairyānaiḥ
khuranēmisvanākulaiḥ ॥
Eager to witness the meeting of the brothers,
they hastened there, on every kind of vehicle,
the hoofs and rims of the wheels causing a din.
2.102.40 ஸா பூமிர்பஹுபிர்யாநை:
குரநேமிஸமாஹதா ।
முமோச துமுலம் ஸப்தம்
த்யௌரிவாப்ரஸமாகமே ॥
sā bhūmirbahubhiryānaiḥ
khuranēmisamāhatā ।
mumōca tumulaṃ ṡabdaṃ
dyaurivābhrasamāgamē ॥
And the earth there, pounded by
the hooves and rims of the wheels,
made a great din like the sky does
when the clouds emerge.
2.102.41 தேந வித்ராஸிதா நாகா:
கரேணுபரிவாரிதா: ।
ஆவாஸயந்தோ கந்தேந
ஜக்முரந்யத்வநம் தத: ॥
tēna vitrāsitā nāgāḥ
karēṇuparivāritāḥ ।
āvāsayantō gandhēna
jagmuranyadvanaṃ tataḥ ॥
Frightened by that clamor, tuskers followed by their cows,
left the place for another Vana,
diffusing the odor of the ichor, along the way!
2.102.42 வராஹ வ்ருகஸங்காஸ்ச
மஹிஷாஸ்ஸர்பாவாநரா: ।
வ்யாக்ர கோகர்ணகவயா
வித்ரேஸு: ப்ருஷதை ஸ்ஸஹ ॥
varāha vṛkasaṅghāṡca
mahiṣāssarpāvānarāḥ ।
vyāghra gōkarṇagavayā
vitrēsuḥ pṛṣatai ssaha ॥
Hordes of boars, wolf packs,
buffaloes, serpents, monkeys,
tigers, Gōkarṇas and Gavayas
were terrified, as were the stags.
2.102.43 ரதாங்கஸாஹ்வா நத்யூஹா
ஹம்ஸா: காரண்டவா: ப்லவா: ।
ததா பும்ஸ்கோகிலா: க்ரௌஞ்சா
விஸம்ஜ்ஞா பேஜிரே திஸ: ॥
rathāṅgasāhvā natyūhā
haṃsāḥ kāraṇḍavāḥ plavāḥ ।
tathā puṃskōkilāḥ krauñcā
visaṃjñā bhējirē diṡaḥ ॥
Cakravākas, water fowl, swans, Kāraṇḍavas, cranes,
and likewise Kōkilas and Krouncas scattered
in all directions, losing their orientation.
2.102.44 தேந ஸப்தேந வித்ரஸ்தை:
ஆகாஸம் பக்ஷிபிர்வ்ருதம் ।
மநுஷ்யைராவ்ருதா பூமி:
உபயம் ப்ரபபௌ ததா ॥
tēna ṡabdēna vitrastaiḥ
ākāṡaṃ pakṣibhirvṛtam ।
manuṣyairāvṛtā bhūmiḥ
ubhayaṃ prababhau tadā ॥
Both the sky and the earth glowed splendidly,
one filled with birds that were frightened by the din,
and the other covered with men.
2.102.45 ததஸ்தம் புரஷவ்யாக்ரம்
யஸஸ்விநமரிந்தமம் ।
ஆஸீநம் ஸ்தண்டிலே ராமம்
ததர்ஸ ஸஹஸா ஜந: ॥
tatastaṃ puraṣavyāghraṃ
yaṡasvinamarindamam ।
āsīnaṃ sthaṇḍilē rāmaṃ
dadarṡa sahasā janaḥ ॥
In no time, those people saw him,
that tiger among men, Rāma,
the renowned and blameless one,
who was seated on the ground.
2.102.46 விகர்ஹமாண: கைகேயீம்
மந்தராஸஹிதாமபி ।
அபிகம்ய ஜநோ ராமம்
பாஷ்பபூர்ணமுகோऽபவத் ॥
vigarhamāṇaḥ kaikēyīṃ
mantharāsahitāmapi ।
abhigamya janō rāmaṃ
bāṣpapūrṇamukhō'bhavat ॥
Reviling Kaikēyee and Manthara,
those people crowded around Rāma,
their faces covered with tears.
2.102.47 தாந்நராந்பாஷ்பபூர்ணாக்ஷாந்
ஸமீக்ஷ்யாத ஸுது:கிதாந் ।
பர்யஷ்வஜத தர்மஜ்ஞ:
பித்ருவந்மாத்ருவச்ச ஸ: ॥
tānnarānbāṣpapūrṇākṣān
samīkṣyātha suduḥkhitān ।
paryaṣvajata dharmajñaḥ
pitṛvanmātṛvacca saḥ ॥
Seeing those people, grieving bitterly
and eyes filled with tears,
he, who knew Dharma, embraced them
as he would his father and mother.
2.102.48 ஸ தத்ர காம்ஸ்சித்பரிஷஸ்வஜே நரா-
ந்நராஸ்து கேசித்து தமப்யவாதயந் ।
சகார ஸர்வாந்ஸவயஸ்யபாந்தவாந்
யதார்ஹ மாஸாத்ய ததா ந்ருபாத்மஜ: ॥
sa tatra kāṃṡcitpariṣasvajē narā-
nnarāstu kēcittu tamabhyavādayan ।
cakāra sarvānsavayasyabāndhavān
yathārha māsādya tadā nṛpātmajaḥ ॥
He embraced some.
Some prostrated themselves before him.
The son of the king met all his friends and relations,
and welcomed each one fittingly.
2.102.49 ஸ தத்ர தேஷாம் ருததாம் மஹாத்மநாம்
புவம் ச கம் சாநுநிநாதயந்ஸ்வந: ।
குஹா கிரீணாம் ச திஸஸ்ச ஸந்ததம்
ம்ருதங்ககோஷப்ரதிம: ப்ரஸுஸ்ருவே ॥
sa tatra tēṣāṃ rudatāṃ mahātmanāṃ
bhuvaṃ ca khaṃ cānuninādayansvanaḥ ।
guhā girīṇāṃ ca diṡaṡca santataṃ
mṛdaṅgaghōṣapratimaḥ praṡuṡruvē ॥
The swelling sounds of those Mahātmas weeping,
filled the earth and sky, reverberating through
the mountain-caves and in every direction,
resembling the nonstop throbbing rhythms of Mṛdanga.
இத்யார்ஷே ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே
வால்மீகீயே ஆதிகாவ்யே
அயோத்யாகாண்டே
த்வ்யுத்தரஸததமஸ்ஸர்க: ।
ityārṣē ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē
vālmīkīyē ādikāvyē
ayōdhyākāṇḍē
dvyuttaraṡatatamassargaḥ ।

The swelling sounds of those Mahātmas weeping,
filled the earth and sky, reverberating through
the mountain-caves and in every direction,
resembling the nonstop throbbing rhythms of Mṛdanga.
இத்யார்ஷே ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே
வால்மீகீயே ஆதிகாவ்யே
அயோத்யாகாண்டே
த்வ்யுத்தரஸததமஸ்ஸர்க: ।
ityārṣē ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē
vālmīkīyē ādikāvyē
ayōdhyākāṇḍē
dvyuttaraṡatatamassargaḥ ।

in Ayōdhyā Kāṇḍa of the glorious Rāmāyaṇa,
the first ever poem of humankind,
composed by Vālmeeki.
