Aranya Kaanda - Sarga 20 Continues
தாநி ஸூலாநி காகுத்ஸ்த:
ஸமஸ்தாநி சதுர்தஸ ।
தாவத்பிரேவ சிச்சேத
ஸரை: காஞ்சநபூஷணை: ॥
tāni ṡūlāni kākutsthaḥ
samastāni caturdaṡa ।
tāvadbhirēva cicchēda
ṡaraiḥ kāńcanabhūṣaṇaiḥ ॥
Kākutstha destroyed all those fourteen spears
with as many arrows bedecked in gold.
3.20.18 தத: பஸ்சாந்மஹாதேஜா
நாராசாந்ஸூர்யஸந்நிபாந் ।
ஜக்ராஹ பரமக்ருத்த:
சதுர்தஸ ஸிலாஸிதாந் ॥
tataḥ paṡcānmahātējā
nārācānsūryasannibhān ।
jagrāha paramakruddhaḥ
caturdaṡa ṡilāṡitān ॥
Then he of supreme radiance
took out in a towering rage
fourteen arrows with iron heads
that had been sharpened on the whetstone,
and dazzling like the sun.
3.20.19 க்ருஹீத்வா தநுராயம்ய
லக்ஷ்யாநுத்திஸ்ய ராக்ஷஸாந் ।
முமோச ராகவோ பாணாந்
வஜ்ராநிவ ஸதக்ரது: ॥
gṛhītvā dhanurāyamya
lakṣyānuddhiṡya rākṣasān ।
mumōca rāghavō bāṇān
vajrāniva ṡatakratuḥ ॥
Taking the bow and
drawing it at full length,
Rāghava shot the arrows
at his target, the Rākshasas,
as Indra hurls the thunderbolt.
3.20.20 தே பித்த்வா ரக்ஷஸாம் வேகாத்
வக்ஷாம்ஸி ருதிராப்லுதா: ।
விநிஷ்பேதுஸ்ததா பூமௌ
ந்யமஜ்ஜந்தாஸநிஸ்வநா: ॥
tē bhittvā rakṣasāṃ vēgāt
vakṣāṃsi rudhirāplutāḥ ।
viniṣpētustadā bhūmau
nyamajjantāṡanisvanāḥ ॥
With their speed, they shattered the Rākshasas,
emerged wet with the blood from their breasts
and rammed into the ground
with the thunder of a lightning.
3.20.21 தே பிந்நஹ்ருதயா பூமௌ
சிந்நமூலா இவ த்ருமா: ।
நிபேதுஸ்ஸோணிதார்த்ராங்கா
விக்ருதா விகதாஸவ: । ॥
tē bhinnahṛdayā bhūmau
chinnamūlā iva drumāḥ ।
nipētuṡṡōṇitārdrāṅgā
vikṛtā vigatāsavaḥ । ॥
The Rākshasas fell down dead,
their hearts shattered,
their bodies red with blood and disfigured,
like trees that had been axed at the root.
3.20.22 தாந் த்ருஷ்ட்வா பதிதாந்பூமௌ
ராக்ஷஸீ க்ரோதமூர்சிதா ।
பரித்ரஸ்தா புநஸ்தத்ர
வ்யஸ்ருஜத்பைரவஸ்வநாந் ॥
tān dṛṣṭvā patitānbhūmau
rākṣasī krōdhamūrchitā ।
paritrastā punastatra
vyasṛjadbhairavasvanān ॥
On seeing them fallen on the ground,
the Rākshasi swooned in anger and
let off fearful yells in her fright.
3.20.23 உபகம்ய கரம் ஸா து
கிஞ்சித்ஸம்ஸுஷ்கஸோணிதா ।
பபாத புநரேவார்தா
ஸநிர்யாஸேவ ஸல்லகீ ॥
upagamya kharaṃ sā tu
kińcitsaṃṡuṣkaṡōṇitā ।
papāta punarēvārtā
saniryāsēva sallakī ॥
She ran to Khara and fell again
in front of him in great distress,
with the blood from her wounds
having more or less dried up,
making her look like a
vine with its resin dried.
3.20.24 ப்ராதுஸ்ஸமீபே ஸோகார்தா
ஸஸர்ஜ நிநதம் முஹு: ।
ஸஸ்வரம் முமுசே பாஷ்பம்
விஷண்ணவதநா ததா ॥
bhrātussamīpē ṡōkārtā
sasarja ninadaṃ muhuḥ ।
sasvaraṃ mumucē bāṣpaṃ
viṣaṇṇavadanā tadā ॥
She cried loudly near her brother
again and again pitifully in misery,
with her face changing color and
shedding tears and wailing aloud.
3.20.25 நிபாதிதாந் த்ருஸ்ய ரணே து ராக்ஷஸாந்
ப்ரதாவிதா ஸூர்பணகா புநஸ்தத: ।
வதம் ச தேஷாம் நிகிலேந ரக்ஷஸாம் ।
ஸஸம்ஸ ஸர்வம் பகிநீ கரஸ்ய ஸா ॥
nipātitān dṛṡya raṇē tu rākṣasān
pradhāvitā ṡūrpaṇakhā punastataḥ ।
vadhaṃ ca tēṣāṃ nikhilēna rakṣasāṃ ।
ṡaṡaṃsa sarvaṃ bhaginī kharasya sā ॥
Seeing the Rākshasas thus struck in fight,
Ṡūrpaṇakhā ran (thus) to Khara and told
everything about the slaying of all the Rākshasas.
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
அரண்யகாண்டே விம்ஸஸ்ஸர்க:
ityārṣē vālmīkīyē
ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē ādikāvyē
araṇyakāṇḍē viṃṡassargaḥ

in Araṇya Kāṇḍa of the glorious Rāmāyaṇa,
