BOOK ON APARA KRIYAS & SRAADDHAM

A book on APARA KRIYAS AND SRAADDHAM written by me in English was published during the visit of Pujya Sri Periyaval to Mumbai in Nov 2015. That publication included Sraaddha Kandam in Tamil from Vaidyanatha Dikshitiyam (Dharma Sastram).

Yesterday the English book alone has been released by South Indian welfare Association of Navi Mumbai. I am sending herewith the soft copy of the book for you to go through and propagate among all Astikas. The Srimukham in Tamil given by Sri Periyaval for the bigger Compendium in Nov 2015 is also attached.

Some of the points highlighted in the book:

    1. The body of the dead person should not be kept waiting. Dharma Sastra identifies 31 Kartas for performing Apara Kriyas.

    2. Pashana Sthapanam and Nithya Vidhi rituals should start IMMEDIATELY after cremation. No postponement is permissible.

    3. Maasika, Sodakumbha etc. Sraaddhas should all be performed during the year on the due dates.

    4. Praytyaabdika Sraaddham should be performed as per Paarvana Vidhanam with Homam etc. and not as Hiranya/ Aama Sraaddham.

    5. Karta should not eat Sraaddha Bhakshanam during the night.

    6. Naandi Sraaddham should be performed properly with 9 brahmanas during important functions like Upanayanam, Vivaham, Seemanthonnayanam etc.

Please go through the book and spread the message among all friends. The present day deterioration in performance of these vital rituals is blamed sometimes on Vaidikas by Grihasthas and vice versa. We have to discipline ourselves; otherwise our society will face ruin in no time.
