    Aranya Kaanda - Sarga 55

    Aranya Kaanda - Sarga 55
In this Sarga, Rāvaṇa takes Seetā forcibly and shows around his opulent palace and tries to impress her, speaking about his exploits, power and grandeur.
He advises her to forget Rāma and pooh-poohs him as someone who lost his kingdom, a mere human with no strength and someone who cannot even dream of ever coming to the impenetrable Laṅkā. He tells her that her bad Karma is over with her stay in the Vana and it is time for her to enjoy along with him, taking rides in his air-car by name Pushpaka.
He promises her power over everyone in his realm including him and every other woman in his harem. He touches her feet with his heads and pleads for her grace.
Seetā, helpless and dejected, sheds tears covering her face with her garment.

Having given orders to those eight horrid Rākshasas,
Rāvaṇa in his perverse folly thought
that he had done all that needed to be done.

    Rāvaṇa, the lord of Rākshasas

    The night rover approached her
who sat with her face hanging down,
    full of tears, feeling terrible,
oppressed by the weight of her grief.
She was like a boat buffeted by
strong winds on the high seas and sinking.
She was like a deer that had strayed
from its herd and was hemmed in by hounds.

to her who was not even in her own control,
