The beautiful temple is devoted to Goddess Annapoorna, who is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. The deity is known and revered for being the great food / nourishment - giver. Even the idol of the deity inside the temple is shown holding out food for all those who are in the need of it. The shrine is famous for its captivating architectural glory, which is said to be inspired by the Meenakshi Temple of Madurai. The temple is enclosed by a well-decorated gate, which is accompanied by four giant-sized elephants, giving it a majestic appearance. There's also a pravachan (discourse) hall inside this temple. And the outer wall has some magnificent carvings of various mythological figures and anecdotes.

Apart from the idol of its prime deity in its sanctum sanctorum, the temple also has shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, Hanuman, Kaalbhairav, etc.

The sacred shrine, being one of the oldest temples in Indore, is particularly renowned for the spectacular beauty of its architecture that draws not just numerous devotees but also countless tourists.
