4.41.28b-30a தமதிக்ரம்ய லக்ஷ்மீவாந்
ஸமுத்ரே ஸதயோஜநே ।
கிரி: புஷ்பிதகோ நாம
ஸித்தசாரணஸேவித: ।
சந்த்ரஸூர்யாம்ஸுஸங்காஸ:
ஸாகராம்புஸமாஸ்ரய: ।
ப்ராஜதே விபுலைஸ்ஸ்ருங்கை:
அம்பரம் விலிகந்நிவ ॥
tamatikramya lakṣmīvān
samudrē ṡatayōjanē ।
giriḥ puṣpitakō nāma
siddhacāraṇasēvitaḥ ।
candrasūryāṃṡusaṅkāṡaḥ
sāgarāmbusamāṡrayaḥ ।
bhrājatē vipulaiṡṡṛṅgaiḥ
ambaraṃ vilikhanniva ॥
A hundred Yōjanas beyond that lies,
out in the ocean, the rich mountain known as
Pushpitaka frequented by the Siddhas and Cāraṇas,
radiating like the sun and moon, splashed by
the waters of the ocean on all sides and
imposing with its high peaks
that seem to extend to reach the sky.
4.41.30b-32a தஸ்யைகம் காஞ்சநம் ஸ்ருங்கம்
ஸேவதேऽயம் திவாகர: ।
ஸ்வேதம் ராஜதமேகம் ச
ஸேவதேऽயம் நிஸாகர: ।
ந தம் க்ருதக்நா: பஸ்யந்தி
ந ந்ருஸம்ஸா ந நாஸ்திகா: ।
ப்ரணம்ய ஸிரஸா ஸைலம்
தம் விமார்கத வாநரா: ॥
tasyaikaṃ kāńcanaṃ ṡṛṅgam
sēvatē'yaṃ divākaraḥ ।
ṡvētaṃ rājatamēkaṃ ca
sēvatē'yaṃ niṡākaraḥ ।
na taṃ kṛtaghnāḥ paṡyanti
na nṛṡaṃsā na nāstikāḥ ।
praṇamya ṡirasā ṡailam
taṃ vimārgatha vānarāḥ ॥
One of its peaks, of gold, is dear to the sun,
another, of silver, is dear to the moon;
the sight of neither of which can be beheld
by the ingrates, the cruel souls and the Nāstikas.
O Vānaras! Search that peak after
bowing your heads to it in reverence.
4.41.32b-33a தமதிக்ரம்ய துர்தர்ஷம்
ஸூர்யவாந்நாம பர்வத: ।
அத்வநா துர்விகாஹேந
யோஜநாநி சதுர்தஸ ॥
tamatikramya durdharṣam
sūryavānnāma parvataḥ ।
adhvanā durvigāhēna
yōjanāni caturdaṡa ॥
After passing that invincible mountain,
another mountain by name Sūryavān
(can be reached after trekking)
a difficult path of fourteen Yōjanas.
4.41.33b-34a ததஸ்தமப்யதிக்ரம்ய
வைத்யுதோ நாம பர்வத: ।
ஸர்வகாமபலைர்வ்ருக்ஷை:
ஸர்வகாலமநோஹரை: ॥
tatastamapyatikramya
vaidyutō nāma parvataḥ ।
sarvakāmaphalairvṛkṣaiḥ
sarvakālamanōharaiḥ ॥
Passing that too, you will come to
the mountain known as Vaidyuta,
on which grow trees that are enchanting in all seasons
and bear every kind of fruit one could wish for.
4.41.34b-35a தத்ர புக்த்வா வரார்ஹாணி
மூலாநி ச பலாநி ச ।
மதூநி பீத்வா முக்யாநி
பரம் கச்சத வாநரா: ॥
tatra bhuktvā varārhāṇi
mūlāni ca phalāni ca ।
madhūni pītvā mukhyāni
paraṃ gacchata vānarāḥ ॥
Eating the exquisite fruits and roots
and drinking the honey of the first quality there,
you shall proceed further, O Vānaras!
4.41.35b-37a தத்ர நேத்ரமந:காந்த:
குஞ்ஜரோ நாம பர்வத: ।
அகஸ்த்யபவநம் யத்ர
நிர்மிதம் விஸ்வகர்மணா ।
தத்ர யோஜநவிஸ்தாரம்
உச்ச்ரிதம் தஸயோஜநம் ।
ஸரணம் காஞ்சநம் திவ்யம்
நாநாரத்நவிபூஷிதம் ॥
tatra nētramanaḥkāntaḥ
kuńjarō nāma parvataḥ ।
agastyabhavanaṃ yatra
nirmitaṃ viṡvakarmaṇā ।
tatra yōjanavistāram
ucchritaṃ daṡayōjanam ।
ṡaraṇaṃ kāńcanaṃ divyam
nānāratnavibhūṣitam ॥
And (then you will come to) the mountain Kuńjara,
a treat for the mind and the eye,
on which is the residence of Agastya built by Viṡwakarma.
That divine mansion, built of gold,
is one Yōjana wide and ten Yōjanas high,
and is adorned with every kind of gem.
4.41.37b-39a தத்ர போகவதீ நாம
ஸர்பாணாமாலய: புரீ ।
விஸாலரத்யா துர்தர்ஷா
ஸர்வத: பரிரக்ஷிதா ।
ரக்ஷிதா பந்நகைர்கோரை:
தீக்ஷ்ணதம்ஷ்ட்ரைர்மஹாவிஷை: ।
ஸர்பராஜோ மஹாகோரோ
யஸ்யாம் வஸதி வாஸுகி: ॥
tatra bhōgavatī nāma
sarpāṇāmālayaḥ purī ।
viṡālarathyā durdharṣā
sarvataḥ parirakṣitā ।
rakṣitā pannagairghōraiḥ
tīkṣṇadaṃṣṭrairmahāviṣaiḥ ।
sarparājō mahāghōrō
yasyāṃ vasati vāsukiḥ ॥
Then comes the city of Bhōgavati
of wide roads, the home of serpents.
It is invincible, guarded on all sides by
horrid, sharp-fanged and virulently poisonous snakes.
The terrifying King of serpents, Vāsuki, lives there.
4.41.39b-40a நிர்யாய மார்கிதவ்யா ச
ஸா ச போகவதீ புரீ ।
தத்ர சாநந்தரா தேஸா
யே கேசந ஸுஸம்வ்ருதா: ॥
niryāya mārgitavyā ca
sā ca bhōgavatī purī ।
tatra cānantarā dēṡā
yē kēcana susamvṛtāḥ ॥
That city of Bhōgavati should be searched;
also, going further, the places around and beyond.
4.41.40b-41a தம் ச தேஸமதிக்ரம்ய
மஹாந்ருஷபஸம்ஸ்திதி: ।
ஸர்வரத்நமய: ஸ்ரீமாந்
ருஷபோ நாம பர்வத: ॥
taṃ ca dēṡamatikramya
mahānṛṣabhasaṃsthitiḥ ।
sarvaratnamayaḥ ṡrīmān
ṛṣabhō nāma parvataḥ ॥
After passing that (you will see)
a rich mountain, full of gems,
known as Ṛshabha, that stands imposing like a bull.
4.41.41b-42a கோஸீர்ஷகம் பத்மகம் ச
ஹரிஸ்யாமம் ச சந்தநம் ।
திவ்யமுத்பத்யதே யத்ர
தச்சைவாக்நிஸமப்ரபம் ॥
gōṡīrṣakaṃ padmakaṃ ca
hariṡyāmaṃ ca candanam ।
divyamutpadyatē yatra
taccaivāgnisamaprabham ॥
On that mountain grow sandal trees
(that yield various sandal pastes)
like Gōṡīrshaka, Padmaka and Hariṡyāma and
and also (paste that is) brilliant like fire.
4.41.42b-43a ந து தச்சந்தநம் த்ருஷ்ட்வா
ஸ்ப்ரஷ்டவ்யம் ச கதாசந ।
ரோஹிதா நாம கந்தர்வா
கோரம் ரக்ஷந்தி தத்வநம் ॥
na tu taccandanaṃ dṛṣṭvā
spraṣṭavyaṃ ca kadācana ।
rōhitā nāma gandharvā
ghōraṃ rakṣanti tadvanam ॥
Do not touch that sandal when you get sight of it;
for that Vana is guarded by
fierce Gandharvas known as Rōhitas.
4.41.43b-44 தத்ர கந்தர்வபதய:
பஞ்ச ஸூர்யஸமப்ரபா: ।
ஸைலூஷோ க்ராமணீஸ்ஸிக்ஷ:
ஸுகோ பப்ருஸ்ததைவ ச ।
ரவிஸோமாக்நிவபுஷாம்
நிவாஸ: புண்யகர்மணாம் ॥
tatra gandharvapatayaḥ
pańca sūryasamaprabhāḥ ।
ṡailūṣō grāmaṇīṡṡikṣaḥ
ṡukō babhrustathaiva ca ।
ravisōmāgnivapuṣām
nivāsaḥ puṇyakarmaṇām ॥
It is the abode of five rulers of the Gandharvas
that dazzle like the sun; these are
Ṡailūsha, Grāmaṇi, Ṡiksha, Ṡuka and Babhru,
who have performed many deeds of Puṇya,
whose bodies are as pure and lustrous
as the sun, the moon and fire.
4.41.45 அந்தே ப்ருதிவ்யா துர்தர்ஷா:
ததஸ்ஸ்வர்கஜித: ஸ்திதா: ।
தத: பரம் ந வஸ்ஸேவ்ய:
பித்ருலோகஸ்ஸுதாருண: ।
ராஜதாநீ யமஸ்யைஷா
கஷ்டேந தமஸா வ்ருதா ॥
antē pṛthivyā durdharṣāḥ
tatassvargajitaḥ sthitāḥ ।
tataḥ paraṃ na vassēvyaḥ
pitṛlōkassudāruṇaḥ ।
rājadhānī yamasyaiṣā
kaṣṭēna tamasā vṛtā ॥
At the end of the earth live those
unassailable souls who have conquered heaven.
Beyond that is the frightful world of the manes,
the capital of Yama, enveloped in
terrifying darkness, where you may not enter.
4.41.46 ஏதாவதேவ யுஷ்மாபி:
வீரா: வாநரபுங்கவா: ।
ஸக்யம் விசேதும் கந்தும் வா
நாதோ கதிமதாம் கதி: ॥
ētāvadēva yuṣmābhiḥ
vīrāḥ vānarapuṅgavāḥ ।
ṡakyaṃ vicētuṃ gantuṃ vā
nātō gatimatāṃ gatiḥ ॥
O Veeras! O bulls among Vānaras!
Only thus far can you go or search;
no moving creature can go any further.
4.41.47 ஸர்வமேதத்ஸமாலோக்ய
யச்சாந்யதபி த்ருஸ்யதே ।
கதிம் விதித்வா வைதேஹ்யா:
ஸந்நிவர்திதுமர்ஹத ॥
sarvamētatsamālōkya
yaccānyadapi dṛṡyatē ।
gatiṃ viditvā vaidēhyāḥ
sannivartitumarhatha ॥
You shall return after exploring all these areas
and others that you might come across,
and learning about the whereabouts of Vaidēhi.
4.41.48 யஸ்து மாஸாந்நிவ்ருத்தோऽக்ரே
த்ருஷ்டா ஸீதேதி வக்ஷ்யதி ।
மத்துல்யவிபவோ போகை:
ஸுகம் ஸ விஹரிஷ்யதி ॥
yastu māsānnivṛttō'grē
dṛṣṭā sītēti vakṣyati ।
mattulyavibhavō bhōgaiḥ
sukhaṃ sa vihariṣyati ॥
He who returns before the passing of
a month and reports, ‘I have seen Seetā’,
will lead a life of comforts, luxuries
and riches equal to those of mine.
4.41.49 தத: ப்ரியதரோ நாஸ்தி
மம ப்ராணாத்விஸேஷத: ।
க்ருதாபராதோ பஹுஸோ
மம பந்துர்பவிஷ்யதி ॥
tataḥ priyatarō nāsti
mama prāṇādviṡēṣataḥ ।
kṛtāparādhō bahuṡō
mama bandhurbhaviṣyati ॥
None will be dearer to me; in fact
he will be dearer to me than my own life,
even if he has repeatedly offended me;
he will become my bosom relation.
4.41.50 அமிதபலபராக்ரமா பவந்தோ
விபுலகுணேஷு குலேஷு ச ப்ரஸூதா: ।
மநுஜபதிஸுதாம் யதா லபத்வம்
தததிகுணம் புருஷார்தமாரபத்வம் ॥
amitabalaparākramā bhavantō
vipulaguṇēṣu kulēṣu ca prasūtāḥ ।
manujapatisutāṃ yathā labhadhvaṃ
tadadhiguṇaṃ puruṣārthamārabhadhvam ॥
You are endowed with limitless strength and valor;
you come from noble families possessed of all virtues.
Put forth every effort that is needed
to recover the daughter of the lord of men.
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
கிஷ்கிந்தாகாண்டே ஏகசத்வாரிம்ஸஸ்ஸர்க: ॥
ityārṣē vālmīkīyē
ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē ādikāvyē
kiṣkindhākāṇḍē ēkacatvāriṃṡassargaḥ ॥

த்ருஷ்டா ஸீதேதி வக்ஷ்யதி ।
மத்துல்யவிபவோ போகை:
ஸுகம் ஸ விஹரிஷ்யதி ॥
yastu māsānnivṛttō'grē
dṛṣṭā sītēti vakṣyati ।
mattulyavibhavō bhōgaiḥ
sukhaṃ sa vihariṣyati ॥
He who returns before the passing of
a month and reports, ‘I have seen Seetā’,
will lead a life of comforts, luxuries
and riches equal to those of mine.
4.41.49 தத: ப்ரியதரோ நாஸ்தி
மம ப்ராணாத்விஸேஷத: ।
க்ருதாபராதோ பஹுஸோ
மம பந்துர்பவிஷ்யதி ॥
tataḥ priyatarō nāsti
mama prāṇādviṡēṣataḥ ।
kṛtāparādhō bahuṡō
mama bandhurbhaviṣyati ॥
None will be dearer to me; in fact
he will be dearer to me than my own life,
even if he has repeatedly offended me;
he will become my bosom relation.
4.41.50 அமிதபலபராக்ரமா பவந்தோ
விபுலகுணேஷு குலேஷு ச ப்ரஸூதா: ।
மநுஜபதிஸுதாம் யதா லபத்வம்
தததிகுணம் புருஷார்தமாரபத்வம் ॥
amitabalaparākramā bhavantō
vipulaguṇēṣu kulēṣu ca prasūtāḥ ।
manujapatisutāṃ yathā labhadhvaṃ
tadadhiguṇaṃ puruṣārthamārabhadhvam ॥
You are endowed with limitless strength and valor;
you come from noble families possessed of all virtues.
Put forth every effort that is needed
to recover the daughter of the lord of men.
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
கிஷ்கிந்தாகாண்டே ஏகசத்வாரிம்ஸஸ்ஸர்க: ॥
ityārṣē vālmīkīyē
ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē ādikāvyē
kiṣkindhākāṇḍē ēkacatvāriṃṡassargaḥ ॥
