4.42.43 Kishkindha Kaanda Sarga 42 Continues
யோஜநாநாம் ஸஹஸ்ராணி
தஸ தாநி திவாகர: ।
முஹூர்தார்தேந தம் ஸீக்ரம்
அபியாதி ஸிலோச்சயம் ॥
yōjanānāṃ sahasrāṇi
daṡa tāni divākaraḥ ।
muhūrtārdhēna taṃ ṡīghram
abhiyāti ṡilōccayam ॥
The sun swiftly traverses the distance of
ten thousand Yōjanas in half a Muhūrta
and reaches the mountain.
4.42.44 ஸ்ருங்கே தஸ்ய மஹத்திவ்யம்
பவநம் ஸூர்யஸந்நிபம் ।
ப்ராஸாதகணஸம்பாதம்
விஹிதம் விஸ்வகர்மணா ॥
ṡṛṅgē tasya mahaddivyam
bhavanaṃ sūryasannibham ।
prāsādagaṇasambādham
vihitaṃ viṡvakarmaṇā ॥
There is a huge divine abode that
is brilliant like the sun
on the top of that mountain
built by Viṡwakarma, consisting of
numerous multistoried mansions.
4.42.45 ஸோபிதம் தருபிஸ்சித்ரை:
நாநாபக்ஷிஸமாகுலை: ।
நிகேதம் பாஸஹஸ்தஸ்ய
வருணஸ்ய மஹாத்மந: ॥
ṡōbhitaṃ tarubhiṡcitraiḥ
nānāpakṣisamākulaiḥ ।
nikētaṃ pāṡahastasya
varuṇasya mahātmanaḥ ॥
Covered with amazing trees
and frequented by many kinds of birds,
it is the home of the mighty Varuṇa,
the one armed with a noose.
4.42.46 அந்தரா மேருமஸ்தம் ச
தாலோ தஸஸிரா மஹாந் ।
ஜாதரூபமயஸ்ஸ்ரீமாந்
ப்ராஜதே சித்ரவேதிக: ॥
antarā mērumastaṃ ca
tālō daṡaṡirā mahān ।
jātarūpamayaṡṡrīmān
bhrājatē citravēdikaḥ ॥
Between Mēru and this mountain of the setting sun
is the dazzling huge ten-branched palm tree,
all of gold, with a splendid platform around it.
4.42.47 தேஷு ஸர்வேஷு துர்கேஷு
ஸரஸ்ஸு ச ஸரித்ஸு ச ।
ராவணஸ்ஸஹ வைதேஹ்யா
மார்கிதவ்யஸ்ததஸ்தத: ॥
tēṣu sarvēṣu durgēṣu
sarassu ca saritsu ca ।
rāvaṇassaha vaidēhyā
mārgitavyastatastataḥ ॥
You should search for Rāvaṇa and Vaidēhi
in every one of those fortresses,
and on the lakes and rivers around there.
4.42.48 யத்ர திஷ்டதி தர்மஜ்ஞ:
தபஸா ஸ்வேந பாவித: ।
மேருஸாவர்ணிரித்யேவ
க்யாதோ வை ப்ரஹ்மணா ஸம: ॥
yatra tiṣṭhati dharmajñaḥ
tapasā svēna bhāvitaḥ ।
mērusāvarṇirityēva
khyātō vai brahmaṇā samaḥ ॥
On that (mountain) sits the Dharmajña
known widely as Mērusāvarṇa, an equal of Brahma,
who is purified by his own Tapa.
4.42.49 ப்ரஷ்டவ்யோ மேருஸாவர்ணி:
மஹர்ஷி: ஸூர்யஸந்நிப: ।
ப்ரணம்ய ஸிரஸா பூமௌ
ப்ரவ்ருத்திம் மைதிலீம் ப்ரதி ॥
praṣṭavyō mērusāvarṇiḥ
maharṣiḥ sūryasannibhaḥ ।
praṇamya ṡirasā bhūmau
pravṛttiṃ maithilīṃ prati ॥
You should bow to him with your head touching the ground
and ask that Maharshi Mērusāvarṇa,
who is like the sun, for information about Maithili.
4.42.50 ஏதாவஜ்ஜீவலோகஸ்ய
பாஸ்கரோ ரஜநீக்ஷயே ।
க்ருத்வா விதிமிரம் ஸர்வம்
அஸ்தம் கச்சதி பர்வதம் ॥
ētāvajjīvalōkasya
bhāskarō rajanīkṣayē ।
kṛtvā vitimiraṃ sarvam
astaṃ gacchati parvatam ॥
The sun, after the night recedes,
drives away the darkness everywhere
for the creatures, before
proceeding to the setting mountain.
4.42.51 ஏதாவத்வாநரைஸ்ஸக்யம்
கந்தும் வாநரபுங்கவா: ।
அபாஸ்கரமமர்யாதம்
ந ஜாநீமஸ்தத: பரம் ॥
ētāvadvānaraiṡṡakyam
gantuṃ vānarapuṅgavāḥ ।
abhāskaramamaryādam
na jānīmastataḥ param ॥
O bulls among Vānaras!
That is how far Vānaras can go.
We do not know what lies beyond,
where there is no sun and no land marks.
4.42.52 அவகம்ய து வைதேஹீம்
நிலயம் ராவணஸ்ய ச ।
அஸ்தம் பர்வதமாஸாத்ய
பூர்ணே மாஸே நிவர்தத ॥
avagamya tu vaidēhīm
nilayaṃ rāvaṇasya ca ।
astaṃ parvatamāsādya
pūrṇē māsē nivartata ॥
You should return before the end of the month,
reaching up to the mountain of the setting sun
and finding out where Vaidēhi is,
and where Rāvaṇa’s abode is.
4.42.53 ஊர்த்வம் மாஸாந்ந வஸ்தவ்யம்
வஸந்வத்யோ பவேந்மம ।
ஸஹைவ ஸூரோ யுஷ்மாபி:
ஸ்வஸுரோ மே கமிஷ்யதி ॥
ūrdhvaṃ māsānna vastavyam
vasanvadhyō bhavēnmama ।
sahaiva ṡūrō yuṣmābhiḥ
ṡvaṡurō mē gamiṣyati ॥
You should not stay any more than a month
lest your life deserves to be taken by me.
My father-in-law, a Ṡūra, will go along with you.
4.42.54 ஸ்ரோதவ்யம் ஸர்வமேதஸ்ய
பவத்பிர்திஷ்டகாரிபி: ।
குருரேஷ மஹாபாஹு:
ஸ்வஸுரோ மே மஹாபல: ॥
ṡrōtavyaṃ sarvamētasya
bhavadbhirdiṣṭakāribhiḥ ।
gururēṣa mahābāhuḥ
ṡvaṡurō mē mahābalaḥ ॥
You, who are naturally good at following orders,
should heed everything that he says.
My father-in-law, of mighty arm and
immense strength, is my revered senior.
4.42.55 பவந்தஸ்சாபி விக்ராந்தா:
ப்ரமாணம் ஸர்வ ஏவ ஹி।
ப்ரமாணமேநம் ஸம்ஸ்தாப்ய
பஸ்யத்வம் பஸ்சிமாம் திஸம் ॥
bhavantaṡcāpi vikrāntāḥ
pramāṇaṃ sarva ēva hi।
pramāṇamēnaṃ saṃsthāpya
paṡyadhvaṃ paṡcimāṃ diṡam ॥
All of you, of great prowess,
are quite illustrious in your own way;
yet, take him to be your ultimate guide
and explore the western quarter.
4.42.56 த்ருஷ்டாயாம் து நரேந்த்ரஸ்ய
பத்ந்யாமமிததேஜஸ: ।
க்ருதக்ருத்யா பவிஷ்யாம:
க்ருதஸ்ய ப்ரதிகர்மணா ॥
dṛṣṭāyāṃ tu narēndrasya
patnyāmamitatējasaḥ ।
kṛtakṛtyā bhaviṣyāmaḥ
kṛtasya pratikarmaṇā ॥
It is only when we have found
the spouse of the lord of men of limitless power,
that we would have done our duty, by requiting the favor.
4.42.57 அதோऽந்யதபி யத்கார்யம்
கார்யஸ்யாஸ்ய ஹிதம் பவேத் ।
ஸம்ப்ரதார்ய பவத்பிஸ்ச
தேஸகாலார்தஸம்ஹிதம் ॥
atō'nyadapi yatkāryam
kāryasyāsya hitaṃ bhavēt ।
sampradhārya bhavadbhiṡca
dēṡakālārthasaṃhitam ॥
You should find out and do
whatever else could serve the purpose better
depending on the time, place and circumstance.
4.42.58 தத: ஸுஷேணப்ரமுகா: ப்லவங்கமா:
ஸுக்ரீவ வாக்யம் நிபுணம் நிஸம்ய ।
ஆமந்த்ய்ர ஸர்வே ப்லவகாதிபம் தே
ஜக்முர்திஸம் தாம் வருணாபிகுப்தாம் ॥
tataḥ suṣēṇapramukhāḥ plavaṅgamāḥ
sugrīva vākyaṃ nipuṇaṃ niṡamya ।
āmantyra sarvē plavagādhipaṃ tē
jagmurdiṡaṃ tāṃ varuṇābhiguptām ॥
Then Sushēṇa and the other Vānaras,
having listened to Sugreeva’s words sincerely,
took leave of the lord of Vānaras,
and left for the quarter protected by Varuṇa.
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
கிஷ்கிந்தாகாண்டே த்விசத்வாரிம்ஸஸ்ஸர்க: ॥
ityārṣē vālmīkīyē
ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē ādikāvyē
kiṣkindhākāṇḍē dvicatvāriṃṡassargaḥ ॥
