    Kishkindha Kaanda Sarga 67

    Kishkindha Kaanda - Sarga 67
In this Sarga, Hanumān rises to fly to Laṅkā. He speaks, instilling confidence in all the Vānaras, of his immeasurable power that only Garuḍa and Vāyu can match. He roars, saying that he can rend the earth, shake the mountains and stir the oceans, with the power of his arms, thighs and shanks. He tells them that they will be reminded of Vishṇu measuring the three worlds with three strides, when they see him flying across the ocean.
Jāmbavan, on behalf of all the Vānaras, extolls him and tells him that he has everyone’s blessings and consent to charge forth and he shall fly. Jāmbavan tells him that the lives of all Vānaras are now in his hands and they shall wait right there till he returns.
Hanumān then climbs on to the top of the mountain. As he treads on it, the mountain, stamped by his feet, groans like a giant elephant hit by a lion. The trees on the mountain shake violently and the boulders roll off. Water, squeezed out of the mountain, gushes out. Serpents partly emerge from their holes with the rear portion of their bodies squashed in the mountain, looking as if they are flags hoisted on the mountain.
His mind completely focused on taking the leap, Hanumān all but reaches Laṅkā, albeit in mind only.

Seeing the mighty strong Hanumān, the best of Vānaras,
swell with energy and rise at once
to cross over one hundred Yōjanas,
they gave up their worries and
with their hearts instantly filled with joy,
let off cheerful cries extolling him. He who can roar like Hanumān does here, to instill confidence and raise hope in people, is a true leader.
That is what leaders everywhere in every age do. The sky-high promises of modern day politicians during the election season, is a version of just that, a roar.
People badly need that roar at a time of despair. They don’t want an echo of their despair. They want a hope that dispels the clouds of fear and helplessness. People simply like to get intoxicated by the roar of a leader.
