babhūva hanumānvīraḥ

Hanumān, outraged, grew to become
as big as thirty Yōjanas.
Surasa then made her mouth forty Yōjanas high.
Hanumān, the Veera, then became fifty Yōjanas high.

then grew to ninety Yōjanas in height.

vāyuputraḥ subuddhimān ।
dīrghajihvaṃ surasayā
sughōraṃ narakōpamam ।
susaṃkṣipyātmanaḥ kāyam
babhūvāṅguṣṭhamātrakaḥ ॥
On seeing that huge gaping mouth
horrid as hell with its large tongue,
the son of Vāyu, who was smart,
shrunk his body to the size of a thumb.

niṣpatya ca mahājavaḥ ।
antarikṣē sthitaḥ ṡrīmān
idaṃ vacanamabravīt ॥
He, of great speed, then quickly
entered her mouth and came out.
Then, standing in the sky,
the blessed one said these words:

praviṣṭō'smi hi tē vaktram
dākṣāyaṇi namō'stu tē ।
gamiṣyē yatra vaidēhī
satyaṃ cāsīdvarastava ॥
I have entered your mouth, O daughter of Daksha,
and thus the truth of the boon remains upheld.
My salutations to you! I shall now go to Vaidēhi.

Seeing him emerge from her mouth
like the moon from the mouth of Rāhu,
the lady Surasa took her original form
and said to the Vānara:

gaccha saumya yathāsukham ।
samānayasva vaidēhīm
rāghavēṇa mahātmanā ॥
O best of Vānaras, O gentle one!
Please go as you please
to accomplish your mission.

all the creatures applauded the Vānara
saying, ‘Well done, well done!’

pāvakairupaṡōbhitē ।
kṛtapuṇyairmahābhāgaiḥ
svargajidbhiralaṅkṛtē ।
vahatā havyamatyardham
sēvitē citrabhānunā ।
grahanakṣatracandrārka
tārāgaṇa vibhūṣitē ।
maharṣigaṇagandharva
nāgayakṣasamākulē ।
viviktē vimalē viṡvē
viṡvāvasuniṣēvitē ।
dēvarājagajākrāntē
candrasūryapathē ṡivē ।
vitānē jīvalōkasya
vitatē brahmanirmitē ।
bahuṡaḥ sēvitē vīraiḥ
vidyādharagaṇairvaraiḥ ।
jagāma vāyumārgē tu
garutmāniva mārutiḥ ॥
The son of Vāyu went along
the auspicious track of the wind
that was also the track of the moon and the sun,
clear and free of habitation and
filling the expanse of the universe,
that was a splendid stage for the action of
rain showers, birds, Airāvata, Viṡwāvasu
and the spotlessly clean and fast moving Vimānas
drawn by lions, elephants, tigers, birds and snakes,
where wandered the instructors
of Raga Kaiṡika (such as Tumburu),
the highly blessed ones who won
heaven with their deeds of Puṇya,
the elephants of the king of Dēvas,
and hosts of valorous and magnificent Vidyādharas,
that was decorated by the planets, the stars
the moon, the sun and the constellations,
and thronged by the crowds of
Maharshis, Gandharvas, Nāgas and Yakshas,
that shone with the fatal fires, which were
as impactful as Vajra and thunderbolts,
and the fire that carried the offerings (to Dēvas),
and that was like a wide ceiling constructed by
Brahma for the sake of all the living beings.

bhējē'mbaraṃ nirālambam
lambapakṣa ivādrirāṭ ॥
Hanumān, the son of Vāyu,
took to the sky where there was no support,
like the king of mountains with broad wings,
visible clearly from everywhere.

Seeing him fly thus, a Rākshasi by name Simhika,
who could take any form at will

drawn by lions, elephants, tigers, birds and snakes,
where wandered the instructors
of Raga Kaiṡika (such as Tumburu),
the highly blessed ones who won
heaven with their deeds of Puṇya,
the elephants of the king of Dēvas,
and hosts of valorous and magnificent Vidyādharas,
that was decorated by the planets, the stars
the moon, the sun and the constellations,
and thronged by the crowds of
Maharshis, Gandharvas, Nāgas and Yakshas,
that shone with the fatal fires, which were
as impactful as Vajra and thunderbolts,
and the fire that carried the offerings (to Dēvas),
and that was like a wide ceiling constructed by
Brahma for the sake of all the living beings.

லம்பபக்ஷ இவாத்ரிராட் ॥
pradṛṡyamānaḥ sarvatra
hanumānmārutātmajaḥ ।
bhējē'mbaraṃ nirālambam
lambapakṣa ivādrirāṭ ॥
Hanumān, the son of Vāyu,
took to the sky where there was no support,
like the king of mountains with broad wings,
visible clearly from everywhere.

siṃhikā nāma rākṣasī ।
manasā cintayāmāsa
pravṛddhā kāmarūpiṇī ॥
Seeing him fly thus, a Rākshasi by name Simhika,
who could take any form at will
