Experiences of Maha Periyava: Darshan after 15 years

It was 2 pm in the afternoon. There was scorching heat everywhere.

An old man had come from Bengal.

"Where is Periyava?" he asked harshly.

"You can have His darshan in the evening", said one of the shishya's in the Matham.

The person seemed like an avatar of Sage Durvaasa himself!

"What? In the evening? Having asked me to come, where has He gone now? Let Him come whenever He wants. I am leaving". Saying this, he started walking towards the railway station.

This really angered the attendant from the Matham!

"What? Are you threatening us? Who has asked you to come? Look at you - in the disguise of a sadhu - beard, matted hair and all that! It is simply not right to shout like this".

As the shishya was speaking, Sri Maha Periyava was spotted in the sugarcane field. The shishya ran towards Periyava.

Periyava and the sadhu from Bengal were speaking for about an hour.

Later, Periyava called the shishya and told him to buy some food for the sadhu and sent him off at the railway station.

The shishya did as he was told, and returned.

Looking at him, Periyava said, "When I went on a yatra to Kasi, we were returning via Bengal and Midnapur. At that time, this sadhu stayed at our camp for a few days. He is a Yoga Purusha; Siddhar, but just no one could win over his short-temperament!

While taking leave, he asked me when he could get my darshan again. I told him that he will get to see me after 15 years in South India.

Just like how Bharathan was awaiting Lord Rama's return, this sadhu has also been counting the days all these years, and has reached here on the date and time stipulated!"
