    Sundara Kaanda - Sarga 8
In this Sarga, which is an extension of the previous Sarga, Hanumān sees the beautiful Vimāna known as Pushpaka.

    sa tasya madhyē bhavanasya saṃsthitam
    mahadvimānaṃ maṇivajracitritam। ।
    prataptajāmbūnadajālakṛtrimam
    dadarṡa vīraḥ pavanātmajaḥ kapiḥ ॥
The Vānara, a Veera and son of Vāyu,
saw the great Vimāna studded with diamonds and gems
whose casements were made of gold purified in fire
that stood in the middle of that mansion. This Sarga, like Sargas 5 and 7, does not seem to be authentic, with all its Ṡlōkas set in a longer meter, very much untypical of the simplistic, non-ornamental style of Vālmeeki.

    kṛtaṃ svayaṃ sādhviti viṡvakarmaṇā ।
    divaṃ gataṃ vāyupathapratiṣṭhitam
    vyarājatā''dityapathasya lakṣmavat ॥
Its excellent decorations were beyond any measure.
It was a work of Viṡwakarma himself,
which was declared as a great creation by him.
Lifted into the sky, suspended in the air,
it looked like a landmark on the pathway to the sun.

    na tatra kińcinna mahārharatnavat ।
    na tē viṡēṣā niyatāḥ surēṣvapi

There was nothing in it that
    was not built with care.
There was nothing in it that
was not made of the rarest of gems.
Its unique features were hard to
find even among (the Vimānas) of Dēvas.
The was nothing in it that
    was not extraordinarily special.

It was one by expending Tapa and valor.
It moved just as its riders wished.
It was built with unique features everywhere.
And it looked equally special from every angle.

    vicitrakūṭaṃ ṡikharaṃ girēryathā ॥
    Uniquely built with unique techniques,
splendid with its many variety of spires and
clear and pleasant like the moon of post-monsoon sky,
it ravished the hearts like a
mountain peak that had its own small peaks.

It was carried by thousands of
hosts of spirits of unimaginable speed
    and the gluttonous Rākshasas of
    round, squint and huge eyes
who can fly in the sky.

That best of the Veeras among Vānaras
saw Pushpaka, the best of the Vimānas,
    that was pleasant and beautiful
like the masses of spring flowers
and was exceeding even the months of
    spring themselves, in its beauty.

    Thus concludes the eighth Sarga
in Sundara Kāṇḍa of the glorious Rāmāyaṇa,
the first ever poem of humankind,
    composed by Maharshi Vālmeeki.
You have completed reading 11875 Ṡlōkas out of ~24,000 Ṡlōkas of Vālmeeki Rāmāyaṇa.
