Sundara Kaanda - Sarga 11
In this Sarga, Hanumān continues the search. He searches through the banquet hall where he finds various liquor jars, meats and pitchers and cups strewn around, and the air filled with various smells.
Not finding Jānaki and realizing that he has been taking a close look at the women of another man, he fears that he might have transgressed Dharma. But he reconciles that, after all, a lost woman cannot be searched for among deer, but only among other women. He is convinced that he looked at the women only with that pure intention and that his mind did not yield to any improper feelings towards them.

indulge in a drink, separated from Rāma.
She would not even get close to anyone else,
even if it was the lord of Suras.
For, there was no one comparable
to Rāma even among the Dēvas.
Concluding that she must be some other woman,
he went on exploring the drinking hall.

adorned with ornaments, who excelled in beauty,
in their skill of making conversation,
in delving on the nuanced meanings of songs
and in their acute sense of time and place,
who slept, exhausted in love sports.

some with a tang of salt,

from the priceless necklaces, anklets
and armlets scattered everywhere,
from the profusion of pieces of
fruit thrown in the drinking cups,
and from the floors decorated with flowers.

He saw many leftover meats of
Krakara bird, Cakōra bird,
wild buffalo, Ēkaṡalya fish and sheep
well prepared and kept ready;
and many other kinds of foods
that were a joy to lick and chew.

The area was full of opulence, evident
from the various foods,
some with a tang of salt,
others with a touch of sour taste and
yet others a mix of all six tastes,
from the priceless necklaces, anklets
and armlets scattered everywhere,
from the profusion of pieces of
fruit thrown in the drinking cups,
and from the floors decorated with flowers.

neatly arranged everywhere seemed to
dazzle without the need for a fire.

That hall (was glowing) with many kinds of meats
treated with the choicest of seasonings,
each arranged separately and artistically.

ṡarkarā'savamādhvīka
puṣpāsavaphalāsavāḥ ।
vāsacūrṇaiṡca vividhaiḥ
mṛṣṭāstaistaiḥ pṛthak pṛthak ॥
That area shone with
many clear, divine drinks,
including artificial ones,
some made from sugar, some from molasses,
some from honey and others from flowers and fruits,
each one specially treated
with appropriate aromatic spices.

bhājanaiḥ sphāṭikairapi ।
jāmbūnadamayaiṡcānyaiḥ
karakairabhisaṃvṛtā ॥
That area shone with
many garlands decorating the floor,
many gold and crystal pitchers and
many other small golden cups everywhere.

The Vānara saw plentiful
liquor of the best class
filled in jars of gold and silver.

bhājanāni mahākapiḥ ॥
The great Vānara saw wine jars
made of gold and encrusted with gems,
and also jars made of silver, filled to the brim.

க்வசித்பீதாநி ஸர்வஸ: ।

kvacidalpāvaṡēṣāṇi
kvacitpītāni sarvaṡaḥ ।
kvacinnaiva prapītāni
pānāni sa dadarṡa ha ॥
He saw at some places,
jars with a little bit (of liquor) left in them,
at others, jars that were completely drained and
at yet others, jars left completely untouched.
