tatō'mbudharasaṅkāṡam
pravṛddhaṡikharaṃ girim ।
vicitrakūṭaṃ kūṭaiṡca
sarvataḥ parivāritam ।
ṡilāgṛhairavatatam
nānāvṛkṣaiḥ samāvṛtam ।
dadarṡa hariṡārdūlō
ramyaṃ jagati parvatam ॥
Then the tiger among Vānaras saw a mountain,
the most beautiful in the entire world,
huge like a cloud, with lofty peaks and
marvelous crests in every direction
with rocky caves everywhere,
covered with many kinds of trees.

ததர்ஸ ஸ மஹாகபி: ।
ப்ரஸந்நாமிவ காந்தஸ்ய
காந்தாம் புநருபஸ்திதாம் ॥
dadarṡa ca nagāttasmān
nadīṃ nipatitāṃ kapiḥ ।
aṅ kādiva samutpatya
priyasya patitāṃ priyām ।
jalē nipatitāgraiṡca
pādapairupaṡōbhitām ।
vāryamāṇāmiva kruddhām
pramadāṃ priyabandhubhiḥ ।
punarāvṛttatōyāṃ ca
dadarṡa sa mahākapiḥ ।
prasannāmiva kāntasya
kāntāṃ punarupasthitām ॥
The Vānara saw a stream tumbling down that mountain
like a lover who got off the lap of her lover,
that got obstructed by the branches of
trees that fell down in its path
like an angry woman who got
dissuaded by the folks of her lover.
And then the great Vānara saw its waters turning back,
like a pacified woman coming back to her lover.

dadarṡa hariṡārdūlō
hanumān mārutātmajaḥ ॥
Hanumān, the son of Vāyu, a tiger among Vānaras,
saw, at a distance from there, a lotus pond
crowded with flocks of different kinds of birds.

நிர்மிதைர்விஸ்வகர்மணா ।
காநநை: க்ருத்ரிமைஸ்சாபி
ஸர்வத: ஸமலங்க்ருதாம் ॥
kṛtrimāṃ dīrghikāṃ cāpi
pūrṇāṃ ṡītēna vāriṇā ।
maṇipravarasōpānām
muktāsikataṡōbhitām ।
vividhairmá �›gasaṅghaiṡca
vicitrāṃ citrakānanām ।
prāsādaissumahadbhiṡca
nirmitairviṡvakarmaṇā ।
kānanaiḥ kṛtrimaiṡcāpi
sarvataḥ samalaṅkṛtām ॥
He also saw an artificial lake
full to the brim with cool water
with precious gems adorning its flights of steps
and having pearls for its sands.
It was adorned all around
by amazing natural and artificial woods
filled with herds of different kinds of deer,
and by lofty mansions built by Viṡwakarma.

புஷ்போபகபலோபகா: ।
ஸச்சத்ராஸ்ஸவிதர்தீகா:

puṣpōpagaphalōpagāḥ ।
sacchatrāssavitardīkāḥ
sarvē sauvarṇavaidikāḥ ॥
There were raised platforms
with seats of gold on them,
under the canopies of all those trees
that were loaded with fruits and flower.

parṇaiṡca bahubhirvṛtām ।
kāńcanīṃ ṡiṃṡupāmēkām
dadarṡa hariyūthapaḥ ।
vṛtāṃ hēmamayībhistu
vēdikābhissamantataḥ ॥
Then the tiger among Vānaras saw
a Ṡiṃṡupa tree of golden hue
covered in dense foliage
and tendrils of many creepers,
with a raised platform of gold all around it.

sō'paṡyadbhūmibhāgāṃṡca
gartaprasravaṇāni ca ।
suvarṇavṛkṣānaparān
dadarṡa ṡikhisannibhān ॥
He also saw a subterranean spring
bubbling up from the ground close by,
and also trees of a golden hue
that shone like fire.

மேரோரிவ திவாகர: ।
அமந்யத ததா வீர:
காஞ்சநோऽஸ்மீதி வாநர: ॥
tēṣāṃ drumāṇāṃ prabhayā
mērōriva divākaraḥ ।
amanyata tadā vīraḥ
kāńcanō'smīti vānaraḥ ॥
The valiant Vānara then felt
that he looked as if he was made of gold,
with the brilliance of those trees reflecting on him
like the rays of the sun on Mēru mountain.

மாருதேந ச வீஜிதாம் ।

mārutēna ca vījitām ।
kiṅkiṇīṡatanirghōṣām
dṛṣṭvā vismayamāgamat ॥
He was wonderstruck when
those golden trees, swayed by the wind,
made a sound that resembled the
tinkle of hundreds of anklet bells.

தருணாங்குரபல்லவாம் ।
தாமாருஹ்ய மஹாபாஹு:

sa puṣpitāgrāṃ rucirām
taruṇāṅkurapallavām ।
tāmāruhya mahābāhuḥ
ṡiṃṡupāṃ parṇasaṃvṛtām ॥
Then, he of mighty arm, climbed on that
Ṡiṃṡupa tree, covered with dense foliage and
crowned with flowers and tender sprouts and shoots.

ராமதர்ஸநலாலஸாம் ।

itō drakṣyāmi vaidēhīm
rāmadarṡanalālasām ।
itaṡcētaṡca duḥkhārtām
sampatantīṃ yadṛcchayā ॥
Let me wait here and see whether
Vaidēhi, who, distraught with grief and
longing for a sight of Rāma,
wanders here by accident.

dṛḍhaṃ ramyā durātmanaḥ ।
campakaiṡcandanaiṡcāpi
vakulaiṡca vibhūṣitā ॥
This Aṡōka Vana, of the evil minded one,
is indeed beautiful, shining with the
Campaka, sandal and Vakula trees.

த்விஜஸங்கநிஷேவிதா ।
இமாம் ஸா ராமமஹிஷீ

dvijasaṅghaniṣēvitā ।
imāṃ sā rāmamahiṣī
nūnamēṣyati jānakī ॥
The lotus pond here is beautiful,
frequented by flocks of birds.
Jānaki, the wife of Rāma,
will surely come here.

ராகவஸ்ய ப்ரியா ஸதீ ।
வநஸஞ்சாரகுஸலா

rāghavasya priyā satī ।
vanasańcārakuṡalā
nūnamēṣyati jānakī ॥
She, the charming one,
the beloved wife of Rāghava,
who is seasoned in strolling in Vanas
will surely come here.

வநஸ்யாஸ்ய விசக்ஷணா ।
வநமேஷ்யதி ஸாऽऽர்யேஹ

athavā mṛgaṡābākṣī
vanasyāsya vicakṣaṇā ।
vanamēṣyati sā''ryēha
rāmacintānukarṡitā ॥
That noble lady of fawn eyes,
who would have been worn out longing for Rāma,
who knows everything about Vanas,
will surely come to this Vana.

ஸா தேவீ வாமலோசநா ।
வநவாஸே ரதா நித்யம்

sā dēvī vāmalōcanā ।
vanavāsē ratā nityam
ēṣyatē vanacāriṇī ॥
That lady of beautiful eyes,
tormented with grief (over the separation) from Rāma,
will surely come to this Vana to take a stroll,
as she always loved living in the Vanas!

நூநம் ஸ்ப்ருஹயதே புரா ।
ராமஸ்ய தயிதா பார்யா

nūnaṃ spṛhayatē purā ।
rāmasya dayitā bhāryā
janakasyasutā satī ॥
Surely, the faithful
and beloved wife of Rāma,
the daughter of Janaka,
used to be interested in the
creatures that roam in the Vana always.

த்ருவமேஷ்யதி ஜாநகீ ।
நதீம் சேமாம் ஸுபஜலாம்

sandhyākālamanāḥ ṡyāmā
dhruvamēṣyati jānakī ।
nadīṃ cēmāṃ ṡubhajalām
sandhyārthē varavarṇinī ॥
The lovely Jānaki of golden complexion
will certainly come to this
stream of lovely waters to
perform her evening ablutions,
being mindful of the hour of sunset.

அஸோகவநிகா ஸுபா ।
ஸுபா யா பார்திவேந்த்ரஸ்ய

tasyāṡcāpyanurūpēyam
aṡōkavanikā ṡubhā ।
ṡubhā yā pārthivēndrasya
patnī rāmasya sammatā ॥
And this lovely Aṡōka Vana is worthy of her,
the lovely and esteemed wife of Rāma, King of kings.

தாராதிபநிபாநநா ।
ஆகமிஷ்யதி ஸாऽவஸ்யம்

tārādhipanibhānanā ।
āgamiṣyati sā'vaṡyam
imāṃ ṡivajalāṃ nadīm ॥
If at all the lady, of face
bright like the lord of the stars
is alive, she is bound to come to
this stream of lovely waters.

5.14.52 ஈ ஏவம் து மத்வா ஹநுமாந்மஹாத்மா
ப்ரதீக்ஷமாணோ மநுஜேந்த்ரபத்நீம் ।
அவேக்ஷமாணஸ்ச ததர்ஸ ஸர்வம்
ஸுபுஷ்பிதே பர்ணகநே நிலீந: ॥
ēvaṃ tu matvā hanumānmahātmā
pratīkṣamāṇō manujēndrapatnīm ।
avēkṣamāṇaṡca dadarṡa sarvam
supuṣpitē parṇaghanē nilīnaḥ ॥
Thus hoping, Hanumān, the Mahātma,
hid under the dense foliage
of that tree in full bloom,
looking about in every direction
waiting for the arrival of the
wife of the lord of peoples.
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
ஸுந்தரகாண்டே சதுர்தஸஸ்ஸர்க:॥
ityārṣē vālmīkīyē
ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē ādikāvyē
sundarakāṇḍē caturdaṡassargaḥ॥
