ஸம்பாதிர்நாம க்ருத்ரராட் ।
ஸ்ருத்வா ப்ராத்ருவதம் கோபாத்
இதம் வசநமப்ரவீத் ॥
gṛdhrarājasya sōdaryaḥ
sampātirnāma gṛdhrarāṭ ।
ṡrutvā bhrātṛvadhaṃ kōpāt
idaṃ vacanamabravīt ॥
That king of eagles, Sampāti by name,
the brother of the king of eagles,
became enraged hearing the news of the
slaying of his brother (by Rāvaṇa)
and said these words:

ētadākhyātumicchāmi
bhavadbhirvānarōttamāḥ ॥
O best of Vānaras!
Who killed my younger brother?
Where was he struck down?
I would like you to tell me about it all!

janasthānē mahadvadham ।
rakṣasā bhīmarūpēṇa
tvāmuddiṡya yathātatham ॥
Then Aṅgada told him about the
slaying of that great bird by the
terrible looking Rākshasa in Janasthāna,
for the sake of you, just as it happened.

duḥkhitassō'ruṇātmajaḥ ।
tvāṃ ṡaṡaṃsa varārōhē
vasantīṃ rāvaṇālayē ॥
Hearing about the killing of Jaṭāyu,
the son of Aruṇa felt deeply saddened.
later, he told that you are in Rāvaṇa’s house.

tasya tadvacanaṃ ṡrutvā
sampātēḥ prītivardhanam ।
aṅgadapramukhāstūrṇam
tatassamprasthitā vayam ॥
Hearing those words of Sampāti
which brought us cheer,
all of us, led by Aṅgada,
set ourselves out immediately.

vindhyādutthāya samprāptā
ssāgarasyāntamuttaram ।

hṛṣṭāstuṣṭāḥ plavaṅgamāḥ ॥
The Vānaras, cheerful and pleased,
started from the Vindhyas and reached
the northern shore of the ocean,
eager to have a sight of you.

vēlōpāntamupasthitāḥ ।
cintāṃ jagmuḥ punarbhītāḥ
tvaddarṡanasamutsukāḥ ॥
All the chiefs, including Aṅgada,
eager to get sight of you,
reached the shore of the ocean.
But they were scared again and began to worry.

ஸாகரம் ப்ரேக்ஷ்ய ஸீதத: ।

athāhaṃ harisainyasya
sāgaraṃ prēkṣya sīdataḥ ।
vyavadhūya bhayaṃ tīvram
yōjanānāṃ ṡataṃ plutaḥ ॥
Allaying the fears that
gripped that army of Vānaras,
whose hearts began to sink
at the sight of the (vastness of the) ocean,
I flew over the hundred Yōjanas.

ப்ரவிஷ்டா ராக்ஷஸாகுலா ।
ராவணஸ்ச மயா த்ருஷ்ட:

laṅkā cāpi mayā rātrau
praviṣṭā rākṣasākulā ।
rāvaṇaṡca mayā dṛṣṭaḥ
tvaṃ ca ṡōkapariplutā ॥
Then, in the night, I entered
Laṅkā, teeming with Rākshasas.
I also saw Rāvaṇa and finally you,
who are overwhelmed with grief.

யதாவ்ருத்தமநந்திதே ।

abhibhāṣasva māṃ dēvi
dūtō dāṡarathēraham ॥
O blemishless one!
I have now given you an account of
all that happened as it is.
Be pleased to speak to me, O Dēvi,
I am the envoy of the son of Daṡaratha!

buddhyasva pavanātmajam ॥
Please know that I am the son of Vāyu
and the minister of Sugreeva,
who has come here in an effort
to help Rāma, looking for you!

kuṡalī tava kākutsthaḥ
sarvaṡastrabhṛtāṃ varaḥ ।
gurōrārādhanē yuktō
lakṣmaṇaṡca sulakṣaṇaḥ ॥
Your Kākutstha, the best
among the ones who wield arms,
is safe and well, and also
Lakshmaṇa of auspicious marks who is
devoted to the service of his elder brother.

பர்துஸ்தவ ஹிதே ரத: ।

bhartustava hitē rataḥ ।
ahamēkastu samprāptaḥ
sugrīvavacanādiha ॥
O Dēvi! Fully dedicated to the welfare
of your valorous husband, I came here
all alone at the behest of Sugreeva.

சரதா காமரூபிணா ।
தக்ஷிணா திகநுக்ராந்தா

dakṣiṇā diganukrāntā
tvanmārgavicayaiṣiṇā ॥
I, capable of taking any form at will,
came here in this southern direction
all by myself with no help from anyone else,
trying to find your whereabouts.

த்வந்நாஸமநுஸோசதாம் ।

diṣṭyāhaṃ harisainyānām
tvannāṡamanuṡōcatām ।
apanēṣyāmi santāpam
tavābhigamaṡaṃsanāt ॥
By the good grace of Providence,
I shall be able to dispel the grief of
the Vānara forces who mourn your loss,
by telling them of my reaching you.

தேவி ஸாகரலங்கநம் ।

diṣṭyā hi mama na vyartham
dēvi sāgaralaṅghanam ।
prāpsyāmyahamidaṃ diṣṭyā
tvaddarṡanakṛtaṃ yaṡaḥ ॥
O Dēvi! By the grace of Providence,
my crossing the ocean did not go in vain and
I shall enjoy the credit for finding you.

க்ஷிப்ரம் த்வாமபிபத்ஸ்யதே ।
ஸமித்ரபாந்தவம் ஹத்வா

rāghavaṡca mahāvīryaḥ
kṣipraṃ tvāmabhipatsyatē ।
samitrabāndhavaṃ hatvā
rāvaṇaṃ rākṣasādhipam ॥
Rāghava of immense valor will
get you back very soon
killing the lord of Rakshasas
along with his kith and kin.

கிரீணாமுத்தமோ கிரி: ।
ததோ கச்சதி கோகர்ணம்
பர்வதம் கேஸரீ ஹரி: ॥
mālyavānnāma vaidēhi
girīṇāmuttamō giriḥ ।
tatō gacchati gōkarṇam
parvataṃ kēsarī hariḥ ॥
O Vaidēhi! There is a mountain by name
Mālyavata, best among the mountains.
A Vānara by name Kēsari went from there
to another mountain by name Gōkarṇa.

பிதா மம மஹாகபி: ।
தீர்தே நதீபதே: புண்யே
ஸம்பஸாதநமுத்தரத் ॥
sa ca dēvarṣibhirdiṣṭaḥ
pitā mama mahākapiḥ ।
tīrthē nadīpatēḥ puṇyē
ṡambasādanamuddharat ॥
That great Vānara is my father.
He killed Ṡambasādana on the
sacred shore of the lord of the rivers
at the behest of the Dēvarshis.

ஜாதோ வாதேந மைதிலி ।
ஹநுமாநிதி விக்யாதோ

tasyāhaṃ hariṇaḥ kṣētrē
jātō vātēna maithili ।
hanumāniti vikhyātō
lōkē svēnaiva karmaṇā ॥
I was born to the wife of that Vānara
from (the power of) Vāyu.
I am known widely as Hanumān
by virtue of one of my own exploits.

பர்துருக்தா மயா குணா: ।
அசிராத்ராகவோ தேவி
த்வாமிதோ நயிதாऽநகே ॥

bharturuktā mayā guṇāḥ ।
acirādrāghavō dēvi
tvāmitō nayitā'naghē ॥
I sang the virtues of your husband,
O Vaidēhi, in order to inspire confidence in you.
Before it is too long, O sinless lady,
Rāghava will take you away from here.

ஹேதுபிஸ்ஸோககர்ஸிதா ।
உபபந்நைரபிஜ்ஞாநை:

hētubhiṡṡōkakarṡitā ।
upapannairabhijńānaiḥ
dūtaṃ tamavagacchati ॥
Seetā, who was enervated by grief,
then developed trust based on sound reasoning
and recognized him as a messenger
because of the sufficient evidence.

ப்ரஹர்ஷேண ச ஜாநகீ ।
நேத்ராப்யாம் வக்ரபக்ஷ்மாப்யாம்

atulaṃ ca gatā harṣam
praharṣēṇa ca jānakī ।
nētrābhyāṃ vakrapakṣmābhyām
mumōcā''nandajaṃ jalam ॥
Jānaki was overjoyed.
And in her exhilaration,
she let the tears of joy
flow from her eyes that had
(lovely) curved eye lashes.

தாம்ரஸுக்லாயதேக்ஷணம் ।
அஸோபத விஸாலாக்ஷ்யா

cāru tadvadanaṃ tasyāḥ
tāmraṡuklāyatēkṣaṇam ।
aṡōbhata viṡālākṣyā
rāhumukta ivōḍurāṭ ॥
Her beautiful face with
wide, white copper-tinged eyes
glowed like the king of the night
relieved from the grip of Rāhu.
King of the night refers to the moon.

மந்யதே நாந்யதேதி ஸா ।
அதோவாச ஹநூமாம்ஸ்தாம்

hanumantaṃ kapiṃ vyaktam
manyatē nānyathēti sā ।
athōvāca hanūmāṃstām
uttaraṃ priyadarṡanām ॥
She then felt certain that
he was truly Hanumān and no one else.
Then Hanumān further said to
her of pleasing looks:

kiṃ karōmi kathaṃ vā tē
rōcatē pratiyāmyaham ॥
O Maithili! I have told you everything.
I only hope you feel better.
What shall I do for you?
What would you like?
I shall now go back!

கபிப்ரவீரேண மஹர்ஷிசோதநாத் ।

ப்ரபாவதஸ்தத்ப்ரதிமஸ்ச வாநர: ॥
hatē'surē saṃyati ṡambasādanē
kapipravīrēṇa maharṣicōdanāt ।
tatō'smi vāyuprabhavō hi maithili
prabhāvatastatpratimaṡca vānaraḥ ॥
I am a Vānara, O Maithili,
equal in power to Vāyu,
having born of his power
at the time when (Kēsari), the great Vānara,
slayed Ṡambasādana in fight
at the instance of Maharshis.
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
ஸுந்தரகாண்டே பஞ்சத்ரிம்ஸஸ்ஸர்க:॥
ityārṣē vālmīkīyē
ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē ādikāvyē
sundarakāṇḍē pańcatriṃṡassargaḥ॥
Thus concludes the thirty fifth Sarga
in Sundara Kāṇḍa of the glorious Rāmāyaṇa,
the first ever poem of humankind,
