mama ṡrutvaiva tu vacaḥ
kṣipramēṣyati rāghavaḥ ।
camūṃ prakarṣanmahatīm
haryṛkṣagaṇasaṅkulām ॥
The moment he hears the word from me,
Rāghava will come, with no delay,
pulling together a mighty army
brimming with Vānaras and bears.

asmāddhuḥkhādupārōha
mama pṛṣṭhamaninditē ॥
Or else, I can relieve you from this suffering
right away, O you of beautiful face;
get on my back, O blameless one!

ṡaktirasti hi mē vōḍhum
laṅkāmapi sarāvaṇām ॥
I can cross the ocean having you on my back;
I have the strength to carry
even the entire Laṅkā along with Rāvaṇa !

rāghavāyādya maithili ।
prāpayiṣyāmi ṡakrāya
havyaṃ hutamivānalaḥ ॥
I will deliver you, O Maithili,
to Rāghava on the Prasravaṇa right way,
like Agni does Havya to Ṡakra.

rāghavaṃ sahalakṣmaṇam ।
vyavasāyasamāyuktam
viṣṇuṃ daityavadhē yathā ॥
O princess of Vidēha! You shall, right away,
see Rāghava along with Lakshmaṇa all set and ready,
like Vishṇu, to kill the Rākshasas!

He, the mighty strong one,
is sitting in the Āṡrama,
eagerly waiting to see you,
like Indra sitting on top
of the king of elephants.

yōgamanviccha rāmēṇa
ṡaṡāṅkēnēva rōhiṇī ॥
Hesitate no more, O beautiful one!
Please get on my back!
Think of getting united with Rāma
like Rōhiṇee does with the moon!

tarākāṡamahārṇavau ॥
You can cross the ocean sitting on my back,
going along the sky as if you were there to
chit-chat with the moon and the blazing sun.

anugantuṃ gatiṃ ṡaktāḥ
sarvē laṅkānivāsinaḥ ॥
None of the people who live in Laṅkā is capable
of chasing me down as I carry you from here, O lady!

yāsyāmi paṡya vaidēhi
tvāmudyamya vihāyasam ॥
Without a doubt, I shall go from here
as easily as I came here,
as you shall see, O Vaidēhi,
travelling in the sky carrying you.

Hearing those wonderful words from
that best of Vānaras, Maithili, happy and
every limb of hers thrilled with joy,
said these words to Hanumān:

tadēva khalu tē manyē
kapitvaṃ hariyūthapa ॥
O Hanumān! How can you carry me
over such a long distance?
I think you truly are betraying
your flippant monkey nature,
O chief of Vānara army!

sakāṡaṃ mānavēndrasya
bharturmē plavagarṣabha ॥
How do you hope to take me
from here to the presence of my husband,
that lord of peoples,
O bull among Vānaras,
with this tiny body of yours!

hanumānmārutātmajaḥ ।
cintayāmāsa lakṣmīvān
navaṃ paribhavaṃ kṛtam ॥
Hearing those words of Seetā,
the resplendent Hanumān, son of Vāyu, thought,
‘Ha, I have been slighted, for the first time!’

ந மே ஜாநாதி ஸத்த்வம் வா
ப்ரபாவம் வாऽஸிதேக்ஷணா ।

na mē jānāti sattvaṃ vā
prabhāvaṃ vā'sitēkṣaṇā ।
tasmātpaṡyatu vaidēhī
yadrūpaṃ mama kāmataḥ ॥
Vaidēhi of dark eyes, does not know
either my strength or my abilities.
Hence, I shall show her
the form I could take if I wish.

இதி ஸஞ்சிந்த்ய ஹநுமாந்
ததா ப்லவகஸத்தம: ।

tadā plavagasattamaḥ ।
darṡayāmāsa vaidēhyāḥ
svarūpamarimardamaḥ ॥
Then, thinking thus, Hanumān,
the best among Vānaras and the tormentor of his foe,
showed his original form to Vaidēhi.

ஆப்லுத்ய ப்லவகர்ஷப: ।

āplutya plavagarṣabhaḥ ।
tatō vardhitumārēbhē
sītāpratyayakāraṇāt ॥
Then, that astute bull among Vānaras
jumped down from the tree and started
to increase the size of his body to convince Seetā.

மேருமந்தரஸங்காஸோ
பபௌ தீப்தாநலப்ரப: ।
அக்ரதோ வ்யவதஸ்தே ச

babhau dīptānalaprabhaḥ ।
agratō vyavatasthē ca
sītāyā vānarōttamaḥ ॥
Imposing like the Mēru and Mandara,
glowing with the resplendence of a blazing fire,
that best of Vānaras then stood in front of Seetā.
