ஸமர்தௌ ஸஹிதௌ யந்மாம்
நாவேக்ஷேதே பரந்தபௌ ॥
mamaiva duṣkṛtaṃ kińcit
mahadasti na saṃṡayaḥ ।
samarthau sahitau yanmām
nāvēkṣētē parantapau ॥
There must have been, without a doubt,
a big blunder that I had committed;
otherwise why would those scorchers of foe,
being as capable as they are,
turn a cold shoulder to me?

karuṇaṃ sāṡru bhāṣitam ।
punarapyahamāryāṃ tām
idaṃ vacanamabruvam ॥
Hearing those pitiful words of Vaidēhi,
spoken with tears (swelling in her eyes),
I told these words again to that noble lady:

dēvi satyēna tē ṡapē ।
rāmē duḥkhābhibhūtē tu
lakṣmaṇaḥ paritapyatē ॥
Grieving for you, O Dēvi,
Rāma neglects everything else.
I swear this on truth.
And when Rāma is deluged by grief,
Lakshmaṇa becomes sad too.

na kālaḥ pariṡōcitum ।
asminmuhūrtē duḥkhānām
antaṃ drakṣyasi bhāmini ॥
Somehow, you have been found.
This is no occasion to grieve.
This hour, as you shall see, O lovely one,
is the beginning of the end of all sorrows!

are eager to see you and they will reduce Laṅkā to ashes.

Rāghava, O you of lovely Kaṭee,
will certainly kill the fearsome Rāvaṇa
and his kin in the battle,
and will take you to his city.

token of identification that Rāma can recognize
and will make him happy.

vēṇyudgrathitamuttamam ।
muktvā vastrāddadau mahyam
maṇimētaṃ mahābala ॥
Looking all about her circumspectly,
she untied the corner of her garment,
took out this splendid jewel
which is worn on the head,
and gave it to me, O you of immense strength!

that is meant for you, O leader of Raghus,
I made my bow to the noble lady
and hurried to return.

avēkṣya varavarṇinī ।
vivardhamānaṃ ca hi mām
uvāca janakātmajā ।
aṡrupūrṇamukhī dīnā
bāṣpasandigdhabhāṣiṇī ।
mamōtpatanasambhrāntā
ṡōkavēgasamāhatā ॥
Seeing me grow in size and all set to start,
that daughter of Janaka,
her face filled with and her words blurred by tears,
agitated seeing me ready to fly off and
hit by a surge of grief, pitifully said these words:

ஹநுமந் ஸிம்ஹஸம்காஸௌ
உபௌ தௌ ராமலக்ஷ்மணௌ ।

hanuman siṃhasaṃkāṡau
ubhau tau rāmalakṣmaṇau ।
sugrīvańca sahāmātyam
sarvān brūyāhyanāmayam ॥
Please convey my wellbeing, O Hanumān,
to both Rāma and Lakshmaṇa, who are like lions,
and to Sugreeva and his ministers.

மாம் தாரயதி ராகவ: ।
அஸ்மாத்து:காம்புஸம்ரோதாத்

māṃ tārayati rāghavaḥ ।
asmāddhuḥkhāmbusaṃrōdhāt
tvaṃ samādhātumarhasi ॥
You should so plead my cause with Rāghava
that he of the mighty arm takes me
to the other end of this ocean of grief.

இமம் ச தீவ்ரம் மம ஸோகவேகம்
ரக்ஷோபிரேபி: பரிபர்த்ஸநம் ச ।

ஸிவஸ்ச தேऽத்வாஸ்து ஹரிப்ரவீர ॥
imaṃ ca tīvraṃ mama ṡōkavēgam
rakṣōbhirēbhiḥ paribhartsanaṃ ca ।
brūyāstu rāmasya gatassamīpam
ṡivaṡca tē'dhvāstu haripravīra ॥
O best of the Veeras among Vānaras!
After you are with Rāma, please
tell him about my torrent of grief
and the continuous threats of the Rākshasis;
may everything fare well for you on your way!

ஸ்ரத்தத்ஸ்வ ஸீதாம் குஸலாம் ஸமக்ராம் ॥
ētattavāryā nṛparājasiṃha
sītā vacaḥ prāha viṣādapūrvam ।
ētacca buddhvā gaditaṃ mayā tvaṃ
ṡraddhatsva sītāṃ kuṡalāṃ samagrām ॥
This is what, O lion among the rulers of people,
that the noble Seetā told me in her grief.
Please, from what I have said,
be assured that Seetā is safe and well!
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
ஸுந்தரகாண்டே ஸப்தஷஷ்டிதமஸ்ஸர்க:॥
ityārṣē vālmīkīyē
ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē ādikāvyē
sundarakāṇḍē saptaṣaṣṭitamassargaḥ॥
Thus concludes the sixty seventh Sarga
in Sundara Kāṇḍa of the glorious Rāmāyaṇa,
the first ever poem of humankind,
composed by Maharshi Vālmeeki.
