Yuddha Kaanda - Sarga 7
In this Sarga, the Rākshasas, instead of offering a well-considered counsel that he seeks, sing glories of his past victories, dismissing Rāma as a trivial annoyance that can be handled even by Indrajit single-handedly.

rākṣasāstē mahābalāḥ ।
ūcuḥ prāñjalayaḥ sarvē
rāvaṇaṃ rākṣasēṡvaram ।
dviṣatpakṣamavijñāya
nītibāhyāstvabuddhayaḥ ॥
Thus told by the Lord of Rākshasas,
all those Rākshasas of immense strength,
foolish and immoral as they were,
with the least knowledge
of the (strengths of the) enemy
said these words to Rāvaṇa,
the Lord of Rākshasas,
joining their palms in reverence:

Parighas, javelins, swords, spears, and Paṭṭisas.

yakṣairbahubhirāvṛtaḥ ।
sumahat kadanaṃ kṛtvā
vaṡyastē dhanadaḥ kṛtaḥ ॥
You invaded Bhōgavati and
vanquished Pannagas in battle.
In a tough fight, you subjugated
the Financier (Kubēra) who dwells on
Kailāsa and the many Yakshas that are with him.

O Lord! That Lord of the World, of immense strength,
who was acclaimed for his friendship with Mahēṡwara,
was vanquished by your wrath in the battlefield.

vikṣōbhya ca vigṛhya ca ।
tvayā kailāsaṡikharāt
vimānamidamāhṛtam ॥
Throwing the Yaksha hosts into a turmoil
and holding them off, you wrested this
aerial car (Pushpaka) from the peak of Kailāsa!

duhitā tava bhāryārthē
dattā rākṣasapuṅgava ॥
O bull among Rākshasas! Maya, the lord of Dānavas,
scared of you, sought good terms with you
by giving his daughter as a wife to you.

vīryōtsiktō durāsadaḥ ।
vigṛhya vaṡamānītaḥ
kumbhīnasyāḥ sukhāvahaḥ ॥
O you of mighty arm! You fought
with the invincible Lord of Dānavas
who was puffed up with (pride in his) valor,
and was busy taking care of Kumbheenasi
and made him obey your will.
Kumbheenasi seems to be the wife of the Lord of Dānavas. I could not get more information on the background story.

svabalaṃ samupāṡritya
nītā vaṡamarindama ।

bahavō rakṣasādhipa ॥
O Lord! O King of Rākshasas! O subduer of foe!
Putting up a persistent fight for a year
with nothing but your own strength to your aid,
you brought under your control
the strong and brave Dānavas who cannot be
exterminated thanks to the boons they have,
and also acquired many a magical powers (from them).

ṡālmalidrumamaṇḍitam ।
kālapāṡamahāvīcim
yamakiṅkarapannaga m ।
mahājvarēṇa durdharṣam
yamalōkamahārṇavam ।
avagāhya tvayā rājan
yamasya balasāgaram ।
jayaṡca vipulaḥ prāptō
mṛtyuṡca pratiṣēdhitaḥ ।
suyuddhēna ca tē sarvē
lōkāstatra vilōlitāḥ ॥
You invaded the ocean of the world of Yama,
which has the army for the water,
the rod of death for a huge crocodile,
the heaps of weapons for a silk-cotton tree,
the noose of death for a great wave,
the troops of Yama for serpents,
and scored a mighty victory, defying death
in a well fought battle
putting all the worlds in turmoil.

ஹதா: பரமதுர்ஜயா: ॥
kṣatriyairbahubhirvīraiḥ
ṡakratulyaparākramaiḥ ।
āsīdvasumatī pūrṇā
mahadbhiriva pādapaiḥ ।
tēṣāṃ vīryaguṇōtsāhaiḥ
na samō rāghavō raṇē ।
prasahya tē tvayā rājan
hatāḥ paramadurjayāḥ ॥
In those days the earth teemed with
as many valiant Kshatriya warriors
as there were huge trees.
They were equals of Ṡakra in valor.
And you, O King, took the offensive
and slew them, who were invincible to others.
Rāghava has nothing like their strength and other
warlike qualities or the zest they brought to battle.

ṡramēṇa tava vānarān ।
ayamēkō mahābāhuḥ
indrajit kṣapayiṣyati ॥
O great king! You shall just sit back and relax!
Why do you have to trouble yourself?
Indrajit alone, O you of mighty arm,
can destroy the Vānaras!

iṣṭvā yajñaṃ varō labdhō
lōkē paramadurlabhaḥ ॥
Performing a great Yajña to Mahēṡwara,
O great King, he obtained a boon that is
near impossible for anyone else in this world!

rathāṡvagajatōyaugham
padātipulinaṃ mahat ।
anēna hi samāsādya
dēvānāṃ balasāgaram ।
gṛhītō daivatapatiḥ
laṅkāṃ cāpi pravēṡitaḥ ॥
Did he not invade the ocean-like army of Dēvas,
which had Ṡaktis and Tōmaras for fish,
entrails that were strewn everywhere for moss,
crowds of elephants for turtles,
horses that teemed for frogs,
Rudra and Aditya for crocodiles,
Maruts and Vasus for great serpents,
chariots, horses and elephants for waters,
and infantry for the sand beaches,
and captured the Lord of Dēvas
and bring him to Laṅkā?

muktaḥ ṡambaravṛtrahā ।
gatastriviṣṭapaṃ rājan
sarvadēvanamaskṛtaḥ ॥
He who slew Ṡambara and Vṛtra,
and received salutations from all the Dēvas,
could go back, released, to heaven,
only because of the orders of the Grandsire, O King!

You just unleash him, your son, Indrajit,
and he can bring destruction upon
the entire army of Vānaras and Rāma.

āgatā prākṛtājjanāt ।
hṛdi naiva tvayā kāryā
tvaṃ vadhiṣyasi rāghavam ॥
You should not take to your heart,
O King, this frivolous annoyance
that has come from a trifle simpleton!
You will surely kill Rāghava!

avagāhya tvayā rājan
yamasya balasāgaram ।
jayaṡca vipulaḥ prāptō

suyuddhēna ca tē sarvē
lōkāstatra vilōlitāḥ ॥
You invaded the ocean of the world of Yama,
which has the army for the water,
the rod of death for a huge crocodile,
the heaps of weapons for a silk-cotton tree,
the noose of death for a great wave,
the troops of Yama for serpents,
and scored a mighty victory, defying death
in a well fought battle
putting all the worlds in turmoil.

ந ஸமோ ராகவோ ரணே ।
ப்ரஸஹ்ய தே த்வயா ராஜந்
ஹதா: பரமதுர்ஜயா: ॥
kṣatriyairbahubhirvīraiḥ
ṡakratulyaparākramaiḥ ।
āsīdvasumatī pūrṇā
mahadbhiriva pādapaiḥ ।
tēṣāṃ vīryaguṇōtsāhaiḥ
na samō rāghavō raṇē ।
prasahya tē tvayā rājan
hatāḥ paramadurjayāḥ ॥
In those days the earth teemed with
as many valiant Kshatriya warriors
as there were huge trees.
They were equals of Ṡakra in valor.
And you, O King, took the offensive
and slew them, who were invincible to others.
Rāghava has nothing like their strength and other
warlike qualities or the zest they brought to battle.

ṡramēṇa tava vānarān ।
ayamēkō mahābāhuḥ
indrajit kṣapayiṣyati ॥
O great king! You shall just sit back and relax!
Why do you have to trouble yourself?
Indrajit alone, O you of mighty arm,
can destroy the Vānaras!

Performing a great Yajña to Mahēṡwara,
O great King, he obtained a boon that is
near impossible for anyone else in this world!

marudvasumahōragam ।
rathāṡvagajatōyaugham
padātipulinaṃ mahat ।
anēna hi samāsādya
dēvānāṃ balasāgaram ।
gṛhītō daivatapatiḥ
laṅkāṃ cāpi pravēṡitaḥ ॥
Did he not invade the ocean-like army of Dēvas,
which had Ṡaktis and Tōmaras for fish,
entrails that were strewn everywhere for moss,
crowds of elephants for turtles,
horses that teemed for frogs,
Rudra and Aditya for crocodiles,
Maruts and Vasus for great serpents,
chariots, horses and elephants for waters,
and infantry for the sand beaches,
and captured the Lord of Dēvas
and bring him to Laṅkā?

muktaḥ ṡambaravṛtrahā ।
gatastriviṣṭapaṃ rājan
sarvadēvanamaskṛtaḥ ॥
He who slew Ṡambara and Vṛtra,
and received salutations from all the Dēvas,
could go back, released, to heaven,
only because of the orders of the Grandsire, O King!

visṛjēndrajitaṃ sutam ।
yāvadvānarasēnāṃ tām
sarāmāṃ nayati kṣayam ॥
You just unleash him, your son, Indrajit,
and he can bring destruction upon
the entire army of Vānaras and Rāma.

rājannāpadayuktēyam
āgatā prākṛtājjanāt ।
hṛdi naiva tvayā kāryā
tvaṃ vadhiṣyasi rāghavam ॥
You should not take to your heart,
O King, this frivolous annoyance
that has come from a trifle simpleton!
You will surely kill Rāghava!
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
யுத்தகாண்டே ஸப்தம: ஸர்க:॥
ityārṣē vālmīkīyē
