Nowadays many young married women and even old married women in Brahmin Community replace their Mangalya saradu with Gold Chain; Kindly post your opinion on this subject, Thanks

Thirumangalyam itself a new addition to Sampradayam which is not in Prayogam, and there is no
Veda Mantra for Mangalya dharanam.
Actually the thread is to hold the Mangalyam made out of gold pieces,
what is wrong by wearing the thread in Gold?
But, it will not be affordable by poor girls if it is made as compulsory.
