  • Clarification - 10th day tarpanam

    Respected Sir,
    Clarification: 10th day ritual

I, K.Bhaskara Sastry belongs to Smartha community and donot have parents.

I have performed the marriage of my daughter on 10.05.2018.
Yesterday, my co-brother has expired (on 16.09.218). I need clarification regarding whether, can I perform DHARMODAKAS ON 10TH day of death of my co-brother.

The opinion of people that with in six months of marriage of daughter, and NANDI was performed during the marriage, it is not auspicious to perform Dharmodakas.

    Kindly clarify.

    With namaskarams

    Yours sincerely,
    K Bhaskara Sastry

    Sri:
I could not understand what is there to do for a co brother on 10th day.
Actually Shastra is same for all brahmins Smartha and Iyengar etc.
If you are asking about just participating in the rituals,
You can definitely participate as a close relative.

Also, Doing marriage to a daughter or son is different and
one can not say or show that as a reason to avoid doing any death rituals
like kuzhi tarpanam, vasodhakam, Tilodhakam to a pangali or dhaayaadhi.

In my personal opinion we are meeting lot of deaths in our day to day life,
death is a death whether it is a mosquito or ant or a man all are the same
all jeevals having the same atma the body only differs .

        Respected Sri N V S,
        Namaskaram,
That's a beautiful answer. Indeed death is a death for all living beings, "whether it is a mosquito or ant or a man all are the same
all jeevals having the same atma the body only differs".
        With respects,
