    Very nice interpretation! But, then, why do we have the tradition of two "thirumangalyams" - one given by the girl's family and the other by groom's?

      Yes,
      What you have said is one of the reason
      and traditionally some sentiment is there, in all subhams people will use things in couple / double / even
      and will not use singles / odds wherever possible.
