Yuddha Kaanda - Sarga 37
In this Sarga, Vibheeshaṇa relates to Rāma what his ministers have found about the army formations in Laṅkā. Equipped with that information, Rāma makes plans on how and who should attack each of the four entrances of Laṅkā and the forces at the center. He tells that he will himself assault the northern entrance and kill Rāvaṇa. He orders the Vānaras to fight in the Vānara form itself, without assuming any other form.

Having entered enemy country,
the King of men, the King of the Vānaras,
the great Vānara, the son of Vāyu,
Jāmbavān, the king of bears,
Vibheeshaṇa, the Rākshasa,
Aṅgada, the son of Vāli,
Sowmitri, Ṡarabha the Vānara,
Sushēṇa and his kin, Mainda and Dwivida,
Gaja, Gavāksha, Nala and Panasa,
all came together and conferred.

rāvaṇō rākṣasādhipaḥ ॥
This city of Laṅkā, ruled by Rāvaṇa,
can hardly be defeated even by the Dēvas,
even with the aid of Asuras, Uragas and Gandharvas.
Let us think and make plans
that ensure the success of our mission.
It is under direct and close supervision of
Rāvaṇa, the lord of the Rākshasas.

by many thousands of well-armed Rākshasas.

Rākshasas armed with spears, swords and bows.

Having seen these defense arrangements made in Laṅkā,
all my ministers have come back in all haste (to report).

a ten thousand chariot warriors,
twenty thousand cavalry and
thousand crores of Rākshasa infantry.

These Night-Rovers, valiant,
strong, and savage fighters,
enjoy the marked favor of
the King of Rākshasas.

Having thus told Rāma what his ministers had reported
regarding the activities in Laṅkā,
Vibheeshaṇa of mighty arm introduced the Rākshasas
and let the ministers tell Rāma everything about Laṅkā.

விக்ராந்தா பலவந்தஸ்ச
ஸம்யுகேஷ்வாததாயிந: ।
இஷ்டா ராக்ஷஸராஜஸ்ய
நித்யமேதே நிஸாசரா: ॥
vikrāntā balavantaṡca
saṃyugēṣvātatāyinaḥ ।
iṣṭā rākṣasarājasya
nityamētē niṡācarāḥ ॥
These Night-Rovers, valiant,
strong, and savage fighters,
enjoy the marked favor of
the King of Rākshasas.

ஏகைகஸ்யாத்ர யுத்தார்தே
ராக்ஷஸஸ்ய விஸாம்பதே ।
பரிவார: ஸஹஸ்ராணாம்
ஸஹஸ்ரமுபதிஷ்டதே ॥
ēkaikasyātra yuddhārthē
rākṣasasya viṡāṃpatē ।
parivāraḥ sahasrāṇām
sahasramupatiṣṭhatē ॥
Each of these Rākshasas have
a million that they can command
to support them in the battle, O King!

ஏதாம் ப்ரவ்ருத்திம் லங்காயாம்
மந்த்ரிப்ரோக்தாம் விபீஷண: ।
ஏவமுக்த்வா மஹாபாஹூ
ராக்ஷஸாம்ஸ்தாநதர்ஸயத் ।
லங்காயாம் ஸசிவை: ஸர்வம்
ராமாய ப்ரத்யவேதயத் ॥
ētāṃ pravṛttiṃ laṅkāyām
mantriprōktāṃ vibhīṣaṇaḥ ।
ēvamuktvā mahābāhū
rākṣasāṃstānadarṡayat ।
laṅkāyāṃ sacivaiḥ sarvam
rāmāya pratyavēdayat ॥
Having thus told Rāma what his ministers had reported
regarding the activities in Laṅkā,
Vibheeshaṇa of mighty arm introduced the Rākshasas
and let the ministers tell Rāma everything about Laṅkā.

ராமம் கமலபத்ராக்ஷம்
இதமுத்தரமப்ரவீத் ।
ராவணாவரஜ: ஸ்ரீமாந்
ராமப்ரியசிகீர்ஷயா ॥
rāmaṃ kamalapatrākṣam
idamuttaramabravīt ।
rāvaṇāvarajaḥ ṡrīmān
rāmapriyacikīrṣayā ॥
Again, the blessed younger brother of Rāvaṇa,
wanting to add what would please Rāma,
said these words to him of lotus eyes:

குபேரம் து யதா ராம
ராவண: ப்ரத்யயுத்த்யத ।
ஷஷ்டி: ஸதஸஹஸ்ராணி
ததா நிர்யாந்தி ராக்ஷஸா: ॥
kubēraṃ tu yadā rāma
rāvaṇaḥ pratyayuddhyata ।
ṣaṣṭiḥ ṡatasahasrāṇi
tadā niryānti rākṣasāḥ ॥
When Rāvaṇa went attacking Kubēra, O Rāma,
sixty hundred thousands of Rākshasas went along with him.
