They are just like the wicked Rāvaṇa, in prowess,
valor, strength, hubris of power, and pride.

(for praising the forces of the enemy);
I am telling this not to scare you,
but only to stir up your ire;
you sure are capable of putting a check
even to the Dēvas, with your valor.

I, along with Lakshmaṇa, shall assault
and break into the northern entrance
where Rāvaṇa is, along with his forces.
I myself shall kill the lord of Rākshasas,
the wretched one who finds delight in harming
hosts of Daityas, Dānavas and the great Ṛshis,
and who, emboldened by the power of the boons,
rampages over all the worlds,
harrying their inhabitants.

vānarā ēva naṡcihnam
svajanē'smin bhaviṣyati ॥
The Vānaras shall not assume human forms
in the battle, leaving the Vānara force
clearly identifiable during the battle.
The Vānara form itself can mark who our people are.

We seven, I, my brother
Lakshmaṇa of immense power,
and my friend Vibheeshaṇa, who,
with his fellow Rākshasas makes five,
will fight the enemies in the human form.

cakāra matimān matim ।
ramaṇīyataraṃ dṛṣṭvā
suvēlasya girēstaṭam ॥
Having told Vibheeshaṇa of his plans
for accomplishing their mission,
the sagacious Rāma decided to climb
the Suvēla mountain, attracted
by the loveliness of its flanks.

tatastu rāmō mahatā balēna
pracchādya sarvāṃ pṛthivīṃ mahātmā ।
prahṛṣṭarūpō'bhijagāma laṅkāṃ
kṛtvā matiṃ sō'rivadhē mahātmā ॥
With a mighty army that covered the earth,
Mahatma Rāma joyously proceeded towards Laṅkā,
resolved on the destruction of the enemy.
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
யுத்தகாண்டே ஸப்தத்ரிம்ஸ: ஸர்க:॥
ityārṣē vālmīkīyē
ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē ādikāvyē
yuddhakāṇḍē saptatriṃṡaḥ sargaḥ॥
Thus concludes the thirty seventh Sarga
in Yuddha Kāṇḍa of the glorious Rāmāyaṇa,
the first ever poem of humankind,
composed by Maharshi Vālmeeki.
