Yuddha Kaanda - Sarga 39
In this Sarga, Rāma and Vānaras beheld the city of Laṅkā from the Suvēla mountain. Some of the Vānara captains, taking permission from Sugreeva, enter the Vanas of Laṅkā and enjoy seeing them. Rāma is awe-struck, seeing lofty and magnificent Laṅkā and the residence of Rāvaṇa.

Crowded with Campaka, Aṡōka, Punnāga, pine and palm,
covered by a thicket of Tamāla trees,
festooned with the vines of the Nāgamāla,
with Hintāla, Arjuna, Neepa and Saptaparṇa in flower,
Tilaka, Karṇikāra and Pāṭala everywhere,
all crowned with a variety of splendid flowers and vines,
and bearing reddish tender shoots,
and with its dark swards and picturesque woodlands,
Laṅkā shone like Indra’s Amarāvati.

The trees bore fragrant and
beautiful flowers and fruits,
like people wearing jewels.

மநோஜ்ஞம் நந்தநோபமம் ।

taccaitrarathasaṅkāṡam
manōjñaṃ nandanōpamam ।
vanaṃ sarvartukaṃ ramyam
ṡuṡubhē ṣaṭpadāyutam ॥
That Vana, haunted by bees
and beautiful in all seasons,
was like Caitraratha,
captivating the hearts, like Nandana.
These two Ṡlōkas that describe a single Vana must be out of place here, caused by a possible mix-up of palm leaves. These Ṡlōkas could be part of the description of the Aṡōka pleasance in Sundara Kāṇḍa.

viviṡustē tatastāni
vanānyupavanāni ca ।
hṛṣṭāḥ pramuditā vīrā
harayaḥ kāmarūpiṇaḥ ॥
The valiant Vānaras who
could take any form at will
were happy entering and enjoying
those Vanas and pleasances,
whose groves were full of Kōkilas,
and were haunted by bees and were full of
birds that were perennially amorous.
They reverberate
with the cries of birds,
the drone of the beetle,
the songs of the humming kingly bees,
the cooing of ospreys,
the clamor of the Kōṇālaka birds
and the sounds of the Sārasa birds.
These four Ṡlōkas seems to be misplaced. The sequence flows well if you read them after Ṡlōka 17 and before Ṡlōka 18.

blew, pleasing the sense of smell.

trāsayantō mṛgadvipān ॥
Some captains of the Vānara army,
taking due permission from Sugreeva,
came out of the formations of Vānara Veeras and
went towards Laṅkā whose banners were flying (high),
scaring away the birds and
frightening the elephants and other animals.

jagāma caraṇōtthitam ॥
With their high pitched voices,
they let off strident shouts, shaking Laṅkā
and with their terrific speed
they oppressed the earth with their tread
and dust immediately rose high
as they stamped the earth.

மஹிஷா வாரணா ம்ருகா: ।

ṛkṣāḥ siṃhā varāhāṡca
mahiṣā vāraṇā mṛgāḥ ।
tēna ṡabdēna vitrastā
jagmurbhītā diṡō daṡa ॥
Bears, lions, boars, buffaloes, elephants and deer,
terrified by that noise, fled in all directions.
