    Yuddha Kaanda Sargas 53

    Yuddha Kaanda - Sarga 53
In this Sarga, on hearing that Dhūmrāksha had been slain, Rāvaṇa sends Vajradaṃshṭra to fight with the Vānaras. He goes to the southern gate which is blocked by Aṅgada. Vajradaṃshṭra’s army sees many evil omens and gets worried, but he persists in marching his army onwards, summoning courage to his aid.
Then, there ensues a terrible fight between the Vānaras and Rākshasas who are set on slaughtering each other. Vajradaṃshṭra terrorizes the Vānaras with an onslaught of arrows. Aṅgada creates havoc among the Rākshasa forces throwing trees at them. The battle field gets covered with broken chariots, dead fighters, horses and elephants.
