Donate your wealth-Sanskrit subhashitam
*ஸ்ரீ குரு வாக்ய பரிபாலனம்*
*ஸுபா4ஷிதாநி*
मूर्खो न हि ददाति अर्थं नरो दारिद्रयशङ्कया |
प्राज्ञाम्पस्तु वितरति अर्थं नरो दारिद्रयशङ्कया ||
भोजप्रबंधम्
mUrkhO na hi dadAti artha
narO dAridriyashankayA
pRagnas tu vidarati artha
narO dAridriyashankayA
– Bhoja Prabandha
A unwise ('murkha') person hesitates to donate the wealth due to the fear of becoming poor in future. But due to the same fear (of becoming poor in future), a wise person wisely donates his wealth! See how the same fear causes wise and unwise persons to behave differently! In conclusion the wise person donates his wealth thinking that in future if he becomes poor then he may loose the opportunity to donate. The implied meaning of the suBAshita may be that man should not fear for the transient things like wealth. Today it is there and tomorrow it may not be there. So donate it when you have it!
The fear of becoming poor in future prevents a fool from giving [away wealth in charity] ; haunted by the same fear (that one would not be able to give on becoming poor) the wise donates [generously now].
மூர்கோ2 ந ஹி த3தா3தி அர்த2:
நரோ தா3ரித்3ர்ய ஶங்க1யா
ப்ராஜ்ஞஸ்து வித1ரதி அர்த2:
நரோ தா3ரித்3ர்ய ஶங்க1யா
- போ4ஜப்ரப3ந்த4ம்
தான் வறியவனாகி விடக்கூடுமோ என்ற அச்சமே முட்டாளைத்
தானம் செய்யாதிருக்கவும், புத்திசாலியைத் தானம் செய்யவும் வைக்கிறது. அதனால் பகுத்தறிவு உள்ளவன் பண்புள்ள போதே தானமும் செய்வான். அறிவிலியோ தானம் செய்யும் பாக்யத்தை இழக்கிறான்.
