    Avani AVittam is on 15 th August 2019 when neither it is Avani month nor Avittam Natchathiram?

    AavaNi avittam is a colloquial usage to just name the festival and does not identify the day as it is Not linked to solar calendar.

    The function is called Yajur Upakarma, technically.

    Yajur Upakarma procedure is done in the full moon day (Poornima) of the Shravana month. May or may not be Avani month (Tamil) or Avitta Nakshatram.

    There is no requirement that Avittam in Avani and Pournami (Poornima) in Shravana will fall on the same day


    Most of the festivals (barring pongal/sankaranti and Tamil New Year) are celebrated according to Lunar Calendar. Tamil months follow Solar Calendar system (have fixed number of days each month). The rule for the Upakarma day is
    Yajur upakarma is held on the full-moon day that comes before the new-moon day of the month of Sravana (Avani).
