The function is called Yajur Upakarma, technically.

Yajur Upakarma procedure is done in the full moon day (Poornima) of the Shravana month. May or may not be Avani month (Tamil) or Avitta Nakshatram.

There is no requirement that Avittam in Avani and Pournami (Poornima) in Shravana will fall on the same day

Yajur upakarma is held on the full-moon day that comes before the new-moon day of the month of Sravana (Avani).
