பாசுரம் என்றால் என்ன ?
பாசுரம் என்றால் பாலைப் போல பாக்கள் சுரப்பது என்று பொருள்.மேயப் போயிருக்கும் பசுமாட்டுக்குத் திடீரென்று அது தொழுவத்தில் விட்டுவிட்டு வந்துவிட்ட தன இளங்கன்றின் நினைவு வருமாம்.உடனே அதன் மடியிலிருந்து பால் தானாகவே சுரந்து வழியுமாம்.
அதேமாதிரி ஆழ்வார்கள் திருவரங்கத்தானையோ,அல்லது திருவேங்கடத்தானையோ நினைக்க வேண்டியதுதான் தாமதம்.அவர்கள் வாயிலிருந்து பாடல் சுரக்கும்.
அதனால்தான் அவற்றுக்குப் ‘பாசுரம்’ என்று பெயர் வந்தது.
"Thirumozhi" literally means "Sacred Sayings" in a Tamil poetic style and "Nachiar" means Goddess.
This pasuram is recited invariably in all vaishnavite temples.
Periyalwar had participated and won a debate on who is the Supreme Para Daiva?.During the victory procession,the supreme lord and his consort came rushing seated on Garuda.
On seeing the Lord ,Periyalwar got worried that such a beautiful Lord may get Drushti and does Mangalasasanam.
Mangalasasanam means "praying that the holy shrines be happy all the time".
