    A List Of 15 Jagannath Temples Situated Outside Odisha!

    The abode of Lord Jagannath is around the world and not just limited to Odisha or India alike. As almost everyone is enticed with the glory of the Lord, we have managed to come up with an extensive list for you to read and explore the most preferred Jagannath temple visits, both in India and abroad which have been ranked in no particular order!

    1) Shri Jagannath Temple, Hyderabad
    This is considered to be the exact replica of the temple in Puri, provided the one in Hyderabad is of a smaller structure. Established in 2009, the expert stone carvers and sand stone used for designing have been brought from Odisha itself. The main temple houses the statue of Lord Krishna in the form of Lord Jagannath. Being one of the spectacular tourist destinations of Hyderabad, this temple’s construction in red sand stone is truly a visual marvel!



    2) Jagannath Temples, Ahmedabad
    Not just one but Ahmedabad is home to two Jagannath temples. Yes, you read it right! The first temple was established about 450 years ago and is dedicated to Lord Krishna as the presiding deity while the other statues are of Lord Jagannath’s siblings. The way Rath Yatra is celebrated here makes it immensely popular among both the residents as well as tourists!

    The second one established in 2014 mirrors the original Puri temple in its structure and rituals. The deities are all carved from Neem wood, like the original one and have been crafted by the artisans of Puri. We must say these temples are a great medium of promoting Odia culture, traditions, art and craft.

    3) Comilla Jagannath Temple | Jagannath Dev Mandir of Comila
    This is a significant medieval religious structure and also the only octagonal shaped temple of Bangladesh. In fact, it is presumed to be one of the oldest on the soil of Comilla as well as of the state. The temple’s terracotta brick work is designed in the typical Bengal style of temple architecture. While the exact date of founding of the edifice is still not properly referred in history, but archaeologists assume that it might date back to 16th century!

    4) Jagannath Temple, Bangladesh

    This is another Jagannath temple situated in Bangladesh which is famous with the name of Handial Mandir among the locals, because of its location in the Handial village. It is a pretty old, small-sized temple and was built between 1300 and 1400 CE. There are famous terracotta sculptures adorning the temple’s structure which makes it one of the most beautiful Hindu temples in Northern Bangladesh!

    5) Jagannath Mandir, Sialkot

    Pakistan comprises of a bunch of Hindu temples and this is surely one of the most prominent amongst all. The gorgeous temple is a dedication to Lord Jagannath and it got constructed in early 2007. While Sialkot is all steeped in history itself, a visit to this temple will have you reeling under its ancient and rich heritage!

    6) Jagannath Temple, Bangalore

    In order to propagate the Jagannath culture in Bangalore, Shree Jagannath Temple Trust of this city recently established a beautiful temple. While earlier, Rath Yatra was held religiously in Bangalore basically by the Odias dwelling there, the construction of this chariot shaped temple was observed as a true landmark move for strengthening the Odia traditions in the city!

    7) Shri Jagannath Mandir, Delhi

    There is a cultural diversity in the capital city of India which has gifted Delhi with many exotic temples. This Jagannath temple of Delhi is a highly revered symbol of the Odia community and is a replica of the main temple in Puri. Clad in white, the temple looks gorgeous and even the Rath Yatra celebrated herein is of much pomp and show!

    8) Jagannathpur Temple, Ranchi

    This huge Jagannath temple has been crafted by following the Kalinga style of temple architecture and has been an eminent tourist attraction in the whole of Jharkhand since its establishment in 1691. The temple is situated on a hillock and it promises a beautiful sight because of its holy ambience and peaceful environment!

    9) Jagannath Temple, Chennai

    It is a wonderful experience to spectate this temple in Chennai. Not just the shrine looks marvellous with all its construction from black granite & white marble, but also the location and precincts of this temple will leave you awed! It stands majestically near the sea shore and houses a beautiful garden which gives a natural feel to its surrounding

    10) Jagannath Bari, Agartala

    The temple here is a remarkable architectural feat and is not only popular from the pilgrim’s point of view but also showcases a gorgeous fusion of Arabic & Hindu building style. It has an octagonal base and is adorned with orange structured Shikharas which makes it unique in its own style. Especially its entrance gate is a highly sculpted one, thus presenting a feast for the eye!

    11) Jagannath Temple, Alwar

    Inspired by medieval structure, this temple is adorned with rare floral motifs in its gigantic pillars. Presenting a perfect blend of Rajasthani & Odia architecture, the temple’s Rath Yatra is famous all over and observes different rituals than that of Puri’s Jagannath temple. Here, an elephant drawn carriage is a part of the annual Yatra wherein a wedding celebration of Lord Jagannath is seen!

    12) Jagannatha Perumal Temple, Tamil Nadu
    This place located near Chennai boasts of a Jagannath temple which is almost a thousand years old. It is considered to be one of the three important Jagannath temples in the world, by being proclaimed as the Madhya

    13) Jagannath Temple, West Bengal

    West Bengal has a diverse religious history and it is well known from the varied shrines found in the region. Although this particular Jagannath temple is in a ruined condition now, but the ancient history attached to it is really enchanting. It was constructed in around 1611 and as per a legendary belief, the main Jagannath temple of Puri is visible from the peak of this temple in Mohanpur!

    14) Jagannath Temple, Bokaro

    Situated far away from the hustle and bustle of the Steel City, Bokaro, this Jagannath temple attracts tourists both for its religious aspect as well as to visit the lush green park which forms a part of the temple. It is a true copy of the main temple in Puri and the annual Rath Yatra is observed in a grand way here.

    15) Jagannath Mandir, Raipur

    Established in 1860, this is the first Jagannath temple of Chhattisgarh and is highly popular for Rath Yatra where people not only from Raipur, but also from nearby places partake in the festivity. In fact there are various other Jagannath temples in Chhattisgarh itself, but this particular temple forms a perfect destination for someone seeking out a self-indulgent moment!
