  • Arudra Darisanam will be celebrated on December 28, 2012 (Friday).

Arudra Darisanam will be celebrated on December 28, 2012 (Friday). Every Year, Aarudhra Darshan is celebrated in the Margazhi Month (December - January) Thiruvadirai Nakshatra.

Tiruvathirai, or Thiruvathirai festival, in Tamil culture is observed on the day when Lord Shiva performed the Tandava. It is a celebration of the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva, which represents the continuous cycle of creation and destruction.
'Aardhra' is the sanskrit name of Thiruvadirai Nakshatra. The festival is also a commemoration of Shiva’s Nakshatra (Birthday Star) Ardra. Thus the festival is popularly known as Ardra Darshan or Arudhara Darshanam
Thiruvathirai Kali and Kootu are the special food prepared in the morning and offered to Lord Shiva.
