    The punishment for sinners

The punishment for sinners in Kritha Yuga was banishing from the country. In Thretha Yuga it was banishing from Village. In Dwapara Yuga it was outcasting and in Kaliyuga only the relations with such person should be severed. - Paaraashara Smriti 1-25

Explanation: In Kritha Yuga when Dharma ran on 4 padas, whole country was filled with noble people, and banishing sinners from country would hold good to protect Dharma in the country. By the time time Thretha Yuga came, Dharma fell to 3 padas and within the country sinners slowly increased, so sinners were sent out of the village of noble people to protect Dharma. By the time it was Dwapara Yuga, Dharma came down to 2 padas and sinners were within every village, so banishing from village was no more the solution, so the noble people sent the sinners out of their castes to protect Dharma within their caste. In the Kaliyuga where Dharma runs only on 1 paadam, sinners are everywhere, even in every caste and family, so noble people can only severe their relations with such sinners to protect their individual Dharm
