    Power of reciting Aditya Hiruthayam

Thanks to Mrs Lalitha Krishnamoorthy for translation….

In Lanka, war between Sri Ram and Ravana was going on. All the important people were slained in Ravana’s side; even then he was not ready to bow. He was still fighting with more courage.

Sri Rama himself felt dejected. How to make him to bow and defeat ? Not knowing the way? When Rama was worried and Sage Agasthya appeared there.
He advised Rama to chant a prayer, praising Sun god which is called “Aditya Hridayam”. Accordingly, Rama prayed to Sun God, became courageous and won the battle. – Thus states Valmiki Ramayanam – all these historic epic events were spoken by Mahaperiava to Sri. C. R. Pattabiraman, son of Dr. C. P. Ramaswamy Iyer.

“This topic (sargam) is in yuddha kaandam. It has 31 verses (slokas). In that, starting from the verse (15) ‘nakṣatra grahatārāṇām’ till the verse (21) ending as ‘ravaye lokasākṣiṇe’, all these 7 verse are special powerful words (slokas-with mantra sakthi).

Periava stopped with this and HE started to speak of other matters.

However, Pattabiraman was stuck in the same place. “What Periava has said is not to be left to go in air like that. In the thretha yuga what upadesa Dasaratharaman got from sage Agasthya, in kali yuga Kanchi Maamuni (Maha Periava) has advised Pattabhiraman. These 7 verses (slokas) I should not forget for 7 births”- thus he determined- Kancheepuram Ramaswamy Iyer Pattabhiraman.

The power of verses (slokas) as indicated by Mahaperiava did not leave with that moment. We should not feel that this does belongs only to that disciple.

Attain word power by chanting this prayer; by Sun God’s blessings let all have a healthy life.

The 7 verses are as follows.
