If I am correct, Prathyinkara Homam is not to be done, though Durga Homa
is done at home. In this regard necessary details will be posted shortly.

Sri Maha Prathyangira Devi temple is situated in a small village called Ayyavadi
near Kumbakonam. It is near Uppilappan Koil. 5 Pandavas visited this place
and kept their weapons under a tree, worshiped Sri Maha Prathyangira
and went around the forest. As 5 Pandavas worshiped here, it came to be known
as Aivar (Five) Padi and later known as Ayyavadi. Further, Lord Vishnu took
the Narasimha Avatar to kill the demon king Hiranyakasipu, father of Prahalada.
The anger of Lord Narasimha did not reduce even after killing the King
People were afraid and prayed to Lord Shiva to save them from the anger of
Lord Narasimha. Lord Shiva took a new and more powerful form
i.e. Avatar as Sarabeswarar, with a lion's face and eagle's wings to control the
      anger of Lord Narasimha.

Lord Shiva was accompanied by the Goddess in the form of Sri Mahaprathyangira Devi
and she was accommodated in one of the wings of Sri Sarabeswarar. Shri Sarabeswarar
brought down the anger of Lord Narasimha to attain peace. Sri Mahaprathyangira Devi
and Sri Sarabeswarar are believed to be more powerful than any other powers.

Further, in Ramayanam, Indrajit, son of Ravana performed a Yaga called
"Nigumbalai Yagam", in praise of Sri Maha Prathyangira Devi to beat Lord Rama.
It is hoped that the above Yaga was performed at Ayyavadi. However, he had not
completed the Yaga successfully and hence could not get the powers to kill Rama.
In fact, it was spoiled by Lakshmana and Anjaneya before completion. Maha
Prathyinkara Devi is seated on a chariot with 4 lions, 18 arms with weapons
      having a Lion's face.

If one worships Prathyangira Devi, one could get relieved from all evil forces
and all problems get resolved. Homams are performed in the temple
premises on Full and New Moon days. On completion of the homam,
a large quantity of red chillies are offered to the Goddess. The significance
of the temple is also mentioned in Devi Bhagavatha puranam, Devi puranam,
Kalika Puranam and the Maha Bhagavatha puranam, according to Scholars.
As regards Upanishads, Devi is mentioned as a Supreme Power. Some say that
worship of Pratyangara Devi along with Sarabeswarar is advisable.
