Thiru karthika slokams

The following shloka is recited when the Deepa (Lamp) is lit in the evening on the Karthigai Deepam day.

कीटाः पतङ्गाः मशकाश्च वृक्षा: जले स्थले ये विचरन्ति जीवाः।
दृष्ट्वा प्रदीपं न च जन्मभागिनः भवन्ति नित्यं श्वपचाहिविप्राः॥

கீடா: பதங்கா: மஸகாஸ்ச வ்ருக்ஷா:
ஜலே ஸ்தலே யே விசரந்தி ஜீவா:|
த்ருஷ்ட்வா ப்ரதீபம் ந ச ஜன்மபாகின:
பவந்தி நித்யம் ஸ்வபசாஹி விப்ரா:||

The following shloka is recited when guggul powder is offered to the Deepa on the Karthigai Deepam day.
उत्सवे तव दीपस्य दीप्यमाने विभावसौ।
गुग्गुलं प्रक्षिपाम्यत्र प्रीतो भव महाबले॥

உத்ஸவே தவ தீபஸ்ய தீப்யமானே விபாவஸௌ|
குக்குலம் ப்ரக்ஷிபாம்யத்ர ப்ரீதோ பவ மஹாபலே||
