Melkote located near Mysore in Karnataka houses an ancient shrine to Vishnu, worshipped as Thirunarayana. This shrine is known for its long standing association with the spiritual leader Ramanujacharya. Melkote is also known as Yadavagiri, yatistalam, Vedadri and Narayanadri.

Yes Sir, Thondanur which is known as Kere Thonnur ( Lake Thonnur) amongst the local people is located very near, (just thirty minutes drive) from Melukote.
This is the place where great Acharya Sri Ramanuja took refuge when he came out of Srirangam and stayed for many years propagating Sri Visishtadhvaitha. It is believed working from here he reinstalled Sri Thirunarayana at Melukote Temple.
This is a small town and has a beautiful Lake. Sri Nambinarayana here is one of the pancha narayanas installed by Acharya Sri Ramanuja. There is a Narasimha Temple built on a small hillock here.

This place is very near to Mandya, which is a native place of sizable population of Sri Vaishnavas.
