Animal Sacrifice
Several experts on Hinduism themselves have explained that the practice of animal sacrifice is the result of a misinterpretation. The Hindu religion uses symbols to communicate different ideas. Greed is represented by the hen, lust by the pigeon, anger by the sheep and so forth. The religion teaches one to sacrifice these negative emotions themselves; not sacrifice the innocent animals which have been used as symbols.
Many Hindus do not follow the evil practice of animal sacrifice. Those who do, have not understood their own religion. The sacrifice of animals for religious purposes should be definitely banned as it is absolutely unnecessary.
தங்கள் தேகம் நோய் பெறின் தனைப்பிடாரி கோயிலில்
பொங்கல் வைத்து ஆடு கோழிப் பூசைப்பலியை இட்டிட
நங்கச் சொல்லு நலிமிகுந்து நாளும் தேய்ந்து மூஞ்சூராய்
உங்கள் குலதெய்வம் உங்கள் உருக்குலைப்பது உண்மையே.
- சிவவாக்கியார்-
கடவுள் அருள் பெறுவதற்காக ஆடு, கோழி, பன்றி, எருமை போன்ற உயிர்களைப் பலியிடுகின்றார்கள். அப்படிப் பலிகொடுத்தால் இறையருள் பெறமுடியாது. பாவந்தான் மிகுதியாகும். உயிர்ப்பலி கொடுக்கக் கொடுக்க வறுமையும், பிணியும், பகைமையும், மனவுளைச்சலுமே ஏற்படும் என்று சித்தர்கள் தம்பாடலில் அருளியுள்ளார்கள்.
